I am a multi award winning songwriter, musician & producer, with over 30 years experience & have had number 'ones' in over 30 countries including the US. After huge success with Right Said Fred, I am currently writing & producing with George Clinton/ Parliament, Funkadelic. I have also worked with Outkast, Lady Miss Kier (Deelite) and Sly Stone.
In the early 90's, I co-wrote a song called 'I'm Too Sexy' with 'Right said Fred' which became a huge hit all around the world..along with the album 'UP'.
Drake has just had a huge hit with his cover of it; ‘Way Too Sexy’ , as did Taylor Swift a couple of years ago ( with her song ‘Look What You Made me Do’) and so has Beyoncé !
That song has now been number one in the USA three separate times!!
I have been significantly influenced by the Blues and P-Funk. I consider myself very lucky to have grown up through the 1960's which was such an exciting time for new music... Especially enjoying Cream, Hendrix, Sly Stone, The Beatles and George Clinton's P-Funk. Though, I find todays advances in music are just as exciting. I like a positive vibe and keep my sense of fun while playing. I have just got a 'Sitar' Guitar which is real fun & unique.
I work from my studio in SW London with my engineer/mixer/producer wife Sue Brooks/Manzoli.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Sue Brooks /Manzoli. My partner who is a great engineer, mixer and producer. Chuck Sabo.. an old friend and great drummer. He played on ‘I’m To Sexy’ . . My first number one hit.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both really. Nothing beats the warmth of analog. Digital is just so reliable and easy to work with.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Logic ProX on an iMac
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Guitar solos, fills and rhythms. Whatever their track needs. Songwriting around a clients vocal or idea.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to do the thing I love most and get paid for it. I would still do it job or not.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Thinking that all I do, or have ever done, is to aimlessly sit around ‘twiddling my guitar’ . My mother often asks if I’m still ‘twiddling’ !!!
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: 'The Naz' ! I wrote and recorded this track around a rough vocal by Sly Stone that was given to me by George Clinton. It ended up as the first track on George’s album ‘first u gotta shake the gate ‘... and the only track that Sly Stone has released in nearly 30 years. Sly Stone’s music has been a huge inspiration to me for years . So the fact that he released this track was a real honor !
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Have just finished some tracks for George Clinton's new 'Parliament' album which was released a couple of weeks ago; 'Medicaid Fraud Dogg'. Check out 'Riddle Me This', Sue and I wrote and recorded this in our studio. George added some brass and vocals. I'm now producing some songs for George Clinton's grandson . Trazae. Who is a hugely talented singer and songwriter .
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I won't stop working on your song until you are really happy!
