Interview with Jordan Waré
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Working on my group October's Child and looking forward to putting out our debut LP in October.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Logic based programming/mixing, Yamaha HS 7 monitors, live instruments recorded right at home
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You will have a sound that is unique but also in the pocket for what is current and popular today.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: More so what their vision of the record is. What brought them to my page. and how can we bridge the gap to give them the best quality sound.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: If you're looking for a quality sound and a unique approach then I'm your guy.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've played violin over 20 years and started producing in 2010.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It's very hard to define. But all in all I would term it as "Cinematic Simplicity".
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Sara Bareilles, Alicia Keys, Drake, Thom Yorke. I've been influenced by them all. They're all unique and I have a bit of them in my music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make sure your drums knock. And also view yourself as the one who paints the canvas. The artist paints the picture.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Aside from my artistry (through my group October's Child) I do a lot of pop, pop/soul, chillwave, hip/hop and r&b.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Strongest skill would be building soundscapes. The soundscape takes you on a journey.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a unique cinematic ear to tracks. I love making things epic as music should impact you! Or at the very least you should feel moved.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically like to build from scratches. I take a more so minimal approach and then fully produce the track out once the frame is built.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jean Luc Ponty, Kanye West, Pharrell, Thom Yorke
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production and string arrangements
