Interview with Jaqui Bonét

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked with Chris Brown on Rollin' with the Punches and I'm really proud of that because me and Chris had dope chemistry and came up with a great record together.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Tempo is the man!!!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be clear about vision. It helps me do my job, which is to ensure that you're 100% satisfied with the song I deliver! I always apply my expertise so there are times when I have to make firm suggestions in order to get the best results, but most of my clients understand this and don't have any issues.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop/rnb and EDM
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring my melodic prowess and lyricism. Sometimes lyrics are left to the wayside but I like to spend a great deal of time crafting them. My voice is sultry and ethereal but with powerful tones that deliver range and a lot of emotion.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: After receiving a new opportunity to create on Soundbetter I contact the client directly to discuss vision and get to work. For vocals my turnaround is on average 2-3 days and for entire songs (top line, lyrics, etc.) turnaround is from 3-5 days. I believe communication is key to a successful job so I always update my "co-creators" with progress and keep lines of communication open. This process has been very successful in delivering exactly what the client envisioned if not better.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: For my clients I lend my expertise (10 years) towards topline, lyrics, vocal demos (lead/backgrounds) and light mixing. I have been recording myself for over 6 years and have the Mercury Waves bundle that delivers the best high quality, professional sound.
