Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: recently, the experience of recording for Joan As Police Woman with Meshell Ndegeocello and the rest of the amazing cast was incredible. i played keyboards, synths, samplers, piano. working with St. Vincent was a dream and a highlight of a lifetime. i was the keyboard player and musical director.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: recently completed a touring cycle with Joe Jackson
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Matt Johnson is a dear friend and a drummer of unparalleled taste and commitment.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: over 40 years of highly diverse musical experiences on tour and in the studio.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: a fine decades-honed musical sensibility; versatility; unique sound pallette.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: follow the songwriter's vision and let first instincts shine. imagine textures and arrangements that make the song stand tall. continue to craft until the song reaches its full potential and the songwriter is thrilled.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: i love recording and look for unique, "signature" takes on sounds and arrangements when appropriate. at the same time, un-flashy, song-first parts and treatments are a big part of my philosophy.
