I hired Barrett for his professional advice on my most important project. I wanted the straight truth on what we were doing right and wrong. I believe 100 percent, that is what he gave me. I also believe 100 percent that he is correct about everything he said. His report has given us absolute direction. Barrett, I cant thank you enough.

Barrett was great to work with! I asked him for a SoundCheck to help me put the finishing touches on a song. The feedback he gave was thoughtful, actionable and delivered ahead of schedule. Very happy with everything Barrett delivered and would 100% recommend working with him.

Barrett flew into the east coast to produce, mix and master our second album (12 songs). His ability to listen to songs, and their structure and hear things you never heard is unreal. Additionally, his attention to detail and absolute focus in the studio is amazing on every level. He pushed us to produce an album we would have never been able to do without him - even contributing on several songs. He will bring out the best in you and your songs. He's also super cool which helps!

Barrett is a joy to work with. I have never really recorded anything before, so wanting to work with a professional was a bit intimidating. Barrett immediately made me feel comfortable and welcomed. He clearly explained what he needed from me to do his best work. He is collaborative, incredibly professional, very easy to get along with, and I am very excited and happy about the finished product. I will absolutely utilize Barrett's services again in the future, and I would recommend him to anyone

This was my second project with Barrett. I'm finding that I'm going to Barrett when I have a song that I'm not quite happy with yet but I know has some promise and I want to make an investment in it. Not only is a Barrett a great producer with a killer ear but his drumming ability is outstanding and the recording quality of the drums is outstanding as well. He's pushed me to improve and deliver a quality performance.
Looking forward to future projects. - check_circleVerified
Barrett was absolutely brilliant. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he is also a fantastic musician. His instrumental contributions were spot on and spanned the gamut of drums, bass, keyboards, guitar, and slide. Equally as important, collaborating with Barrett was a ton of fun. I felt like I was working alongside a teammate that shared my vision. All of these qualities make him an ideal producer to work with, and I look forward to working with him again in the future.

Interview with Barrett Jones
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! I love analog and it sounds better, but once it's in the computer it stays there.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Use the "hi pass" filter! with the exception of bass, kick drum and maybe some keyboard sounds, there is no need for any frequencies below 200hz, and will just "muddy" up a mix.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing in bands when I was 15, and soon after started to record myself with cassette players. I bought a 4 track Tascam tape machine in 1985 and officially opened my studio. I continue to play in bands and have been recording and producing music for 35 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I like to capture the energy and essence of a band playing live, and will work to make the best recording possible within the talents of the musicians. I'm laid back and easy to get along with in the studio.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Punk, indie, rock, bands, music...
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skills are coming up with hooks, harmonies, and "ear candy" for songs. I also have very good strength in helping a band solidify their individual parts of a song.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A strong understanding of what works and what doesn't. I have always been able help make any song better then it was.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've owned and operated Laundry Room Studio since 1985. It started out as a 4 track 1/4" reel to reel studio and progressed over the years to 2" 24 track and then Protools. I'm now in my 10th location in a house in Seattle. laundryroomstudio.com
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Drummers: John Bonham, Stewart Copland, Dave Grohl. Guitars: Andy Gill, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page. Keys: Benmont Tench. Bass: Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Grahm Maybe. Producers: George Martin, Steve Lillywhite, Gill Norton.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production, engineering, mixing, arranging, and musical collaboration.
