I love transforming a raw recording into a vibrant, dynamic piece of art that emotionally captures the listener. I've worked with Grammy winning Mix Engineers and Mastering Engineers. I play in a indie-rock band called Walden. We've played major fests across the nation (Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees, Kabboo, etc)
I specialize in mixing, editing, and singing. I have been mixing for 5 years and I've been sound engineering for 12 years.
Most of my experience comes from the indie-rock band I played in called "Walden" (instagram @waldengrams). I've produced, edited, and mixed a bunch of our studio recordings and live recordings.
I've self produced and mixed my solo indie-folk album coming out this year.
I have a mix compilation as the audio in my profile.
REGARDING TOP-LINES:
I love singing on other artist's tracks! I work much better when the producer has melodies and lyrics that I can work with. I will NOT topline a song without some sort of foundational lyrics and melodies.

It has been such a pleasure working with Richard over the past month. We have been working very hard on mixing a longer project, and he is excellent not only in his talents with mixing, but his professionalism and quality of his service is phenomenal. It's important to work with a mixing engineer who cares for your end product, Richard does!

It was such a blast working with Richard! My first time working with a mixing engineer from SoundBetter and Richard's process is phenomenal. He really knows how to take your song and direction, and knock it out of the park very efficiently. Cannot wait to work more with Richard, and I highly recommend him for your project.

Richard definitely does a great job! The project got a little long, but he stuck with it and delivered quality mixes all the way to the end. He offers many revisions and did well with repeated edits. I would definitely recommend him for pop/folk/rock singer-songwriter.

Interview with Richard Becker
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I'm a digital guy - it's simply too convenient and efficient. I can recall mix sessions whenever. I can mix and record anywhere that I have my apollo interface, my laptop, and a microphone. And the plugins these days, particularly the UAD plugins, are such high quality, you can barely tell a difference.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: If it feels good, it is good.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: indie, alternative, rock, and pop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Attention to detail. I will make sure a session is cleaned up and tight before I started mixing to achieve the most professional sound possible (excluding live recordings where I let the imperfections breathe more).
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I track and mix in Protools. I use a UAD Apollo Twin X as my interface connected to a macbook pro. I use Yamaha HS8's as monitors but do a lot of my mixing in AT-MH50x headphones. Got too many plugins to count but some of my favorites are the UAD plugins: 1176, LA-2A, Neve 1073, Fairchild 670, Pultec EQP-1A.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Michael Brauer, Shawn Everett, Austin Asvanonda
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing, editing, vocal tuning, toplines
