Leo Abrahams on SoundBetter

Credits with Mark Ronson, Jon Hopkins, Regina Spektor and many more. Guitar, but not as we know it. From pristine sonic landscapes, through intricately crafted parts, to utter filth. Everything I send you will serve the song - it won't just be sonic splurge. Unless sonic splurge is what you want.

I love playing guitar for people and contributing to their music. I'll bring unique sounds, and a producer's ear for arrangement and hooks. I made the Enigma sample libraries for Spitfire Audio, and now I'm excited to take a bespoke approach.

I'm equally happy taking specific instructions (including sheet music), abstract ones (someone once told me to play as if I'd been cycling uphill in the verse and downhill in the chorus), or no instructions at all. I can send a variety of approaches for you to choose from, which I can then develop further.

I always think about what works in the context of the song or piece of music - both in terms of musical content and texture. But first takes often have a specific energy, so I usually record my gut reaction before getting too analytical!

After studying composition at the Royal Academy I joined Imogen Heap's band. Over a 22-year career I've featured on over 350 releases by artists including Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins, Grace Jones, Mark Ronson, Paul Simon, Adele and Florence & The Machine, and on film scores such as Oceans 8, Twilight and The Lovely Bones.

DJing is not my skill but I've posted a montage of clips from various releases. Aside from the obvious, all the synth-y sounds are guitar too.

I'll be happy to help you however I can.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

I can’t say enough good things about my friend Leo. Above all else, I admire his ability to bring out the best in everyone around him and knowing when to chime in with big picture suggestions at just the right time. The best.

  4. Review by DAVID COULTER

Leo Abrahams is one of Life’s rare creatures. A humbly brilliant musician who approaches every project he takes on with a passion and a joy that is contagious. His dexterity on any number of instruments is mindbending and his ears and hands in a studio are understandably highly sought after. I have been very blessed to have known Leo for many years in many capacities. We have recorded, toured, played in studios and on stages together for over two decades and every time we are fortunate enough to be in the same room sparks fly and beautiful things happen. Encore...

  7. Review by Emre Ramazanoglu

Leo is without doubt, one of the finest and most original guitarists in the world. He’s managed to find a unique voice on a ubiquitous instrument and push the limits of sound design in both the digital and analog realm. Every session with him is fluid and productive, he’s a great producer and composer as well. I cannot recommmend him highly enougk.
