Maude is excellent to work with.
I've sent her some references and she instantly know how the vocals will need to be in my song. As a struggling indie musician, cost will always be in my top 3 to consider and oh boy, money well spent indeed, no regrets.
Her growls are top notch, and her cleans has got to be one of the highest I've heard. Will work again. Thank you so much, Maude.
Such power, such majesty. Handled admirably once again. My go to voice as soon as I have new music ready!
Interview with Maude Théberge
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My main project is my metal band Sanguine Glacialis. I have recorded and promoted two full lenght albums and one EP and am currently working on the third full lenght album!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing piano in high school, followed closely by violin. I then studied classical and jazz piano and classical violin in college and in university. I have been singing and playing piano and violin for 15 years. I have 10 years of band experience, and approximately 10 years of studio experience as well.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, because with today's technology it's a lot easier and faster. I have nothing against analog when it's possible though!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: My passion is music, and this job lets me play music for a living. I get to play styles I wouldn't do with my personnal projects and it makes me a better musician!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I can only do metal, which is what I've been mostly doing all my life. I studied in classical music and am very versatile in any style actually!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Really take the time to listen to the person's previous work and take the time to talk to the person. That's the key in creating together!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is anything and everything, and that's why I'm a session musician ;)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly metal, classical, acoustic or anything in between.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a small studio at home with a microphone, sound card and preamp to record, a keyboard to record midi tracks and an electric and acoustic violin.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I am very versatile: I can do multiple different styles with any instrument I play.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I get inspiration in everything really. Lately, I've been very impressed with Finneas (Billy Eillish) and how he was able to record a multiplatinum record in his bedroom!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Quality and professionalism.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring strong and catchy melodies with a very personal interpretation
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends on the work. I usually listen to the song(s) many times to either learn the parts or hear what I could add.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly do session work, but I can compose, arrange and write.
