I'm a Finnish composer living in Los Angeles. I have composed, arranged, and produced music for multiple artists, ensembles and clients. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Writing & Production.

Interview with Tuomas Norjanen
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Last summer, I was working with the Finnish Defence Forces for a tour with a famous pop duo Ida Paul & Kalle Lindroth. Their songs were to be arranged for a concert band with a large rhythm section, and I included orchestration from Stravinsky, Shostakovits and Mahler. I had fun mixing traditional orchestration with modern pop music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: My favorite artists are also my childhood heroes. It would be a dream to work with John Powell because of his ability to combine traditional orchestration with contemporary sounds. Hans Zimmer is a visionary, and just meeting with him would be wonderful. John Williams has an incredible legacy that inspires me every day. In my home country, Pessi Levanto would be a great person to work with.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Use your fucking ears.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Because of my childhood growing up with classical musician parents, I have so much immersive experience that I'm able to work quickly and intuitively. My production skills keep up with my musical imagination so I work with a really good flow.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When a client gives something musical to work with, I really love the process of setting that piece within an orchestral palette.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: So far, my work tends to be in large ensembles and orchestras, with contemporary sounds and elements. I do both media and live concert performances.
