I could be singing praises all over the world for this extraordinary talent! I wrote a song having Queen inspired harmonies in mind and when I heard Lars, I felt wow, he understands.. but I didn't know just how much he fully understood until we began working together! He delivered to me within 24 hours which was just a blessing beyond and he was the most easy and professional to work with.. I'm not just recommending him, I'm saying if you want STELLAR background vocals, go to Lars!

Lars is pro in every aspect of the process and is really easy to work with. He absolutely understood what i was looking for and nailed it! Add to that his incredible voice and the range of it and you'll be more than happy! I asked Lars if he could do some ad libs on top of the lyrics/melody i wrote and it really elevated the song. I had high expectations coming in to this and they where exceeded by far! I will for sure 100% work with Lars again and i highly recommend his services!

I asked Lars to take on a pop/rock-ballad-type piece with some rather tricky chord and key changes. This was actually the first time I'd used a vocalist in this way for my songs working online, so I wasn't sure precisely what to expect, but I knew from the outset that Lars had the vocal character I wanted. Lars absolutely brought the song to a higher level with his outstanding harmony work, quick action and friendly, flexible attitude. Absolutely a pro in every sense of the word—awesome work!

The most incredible vocals sung by Lars!! He understood the task and worked extremely hard to deliver the very best vocals, within a super quick time-frame, always staying in tight contact with me throughout the project duration. Lars delivered high quality files of vocals that were just amazing. 100% most highly recommended and I honestly can't wait to work with him again!! Thank you, Lars!!

Interview with Lars Edvall
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: All over the place. I have a stage persona for my personal voice, Sad Jack, but I'm well known for singing rock/pop with a slightly more forceful tone. Then there's another community in which I'm best known for popera/classic ballad-style singing.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A song I recorded for Jeff Chapman. Really good song which I sang lead on and arranged and sang bv:s on in a (fast and) really satisfying way. Happy customer - happy me!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: An EP with a well-known Swedish artist, my own projects new release, some background music tracks for a repeat client and conducting a choir.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I've recorded a lot of stuff on 2" tape, but for practical purposes nowadays, digital always wins.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Endless supplies of food & beverage, a laptop, mic, interface and a guitar ... I'm really swift att clicking in piano parts without keyboard, but guitar is harder to emulate nicely.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Queen, Toto, Extreme, Max Martin
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Max Prime - for production of remixes or EDM stuff.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I deliver, and I don't use those words lightly.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The variation! The possibility to create stuff that has never been heard before!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How free am I to interpret or come up with ideas? Is there any specific artist you want to mimic the feel of?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't be afraid to be specific regarding your demands or your feedback. It's better to be crystal clear so you get what you pay for as a client.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been freelancing as a composer/singer/instrumentalist for 25 years.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Keep drums and low bottom tight and well locked together. Then the rest usually sorts itself out mix-wise.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, rock and EDM.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My head combined with my voice. I know how to sing and I know how to sing exactly the harmonies I arrange in my head. I have no problem doing a whole arrangement first and then read it from my mind.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Mostly a carefully recorded and edited vocal package, expressing the feelings and style requested by the client. I usually suggest how background vocals can be made, present an idea to the client and then arrange.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Sing through the song, find the right type of vocal approach, arrange background vocals, send draft version to client, get feedback, polish up draft or re-record, check with client, send delivery package.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: DAW: Logic Pro. Recording vocals with Neumann TLM 49 through Neve 9098 amp to Apollo interface. Electric and acoustic guitars, electric bass, a mandolin, some keyboards, percussion instruments etcetera. Also drum room with full recording setup available.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Recording/singing lead vocals and arranging and layering background vocals.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you redo this particular part? In most cases I answer yes.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I can contribute to songwriting without being credited.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Tove Lo, or why not Brian May and Roger Taylor?
