Raul on SoundBetter

Vocal Producer/Engineer in Hollywood area. Affiliated with Major Labels & Studios, have done some songs for Armin Van Buuren, Krewella, Justin Jesso, songwriting sessions with songwriters like Nasri (MAG!C), and other major pop/dance artists. If you need Vocal Production and Recording don't hesitate to contact me. I also producer records.

We have a studio designed for Vocal Production in Hollywood, we run a very high end Vocal Rig with a Sony C800G which is know to be Pop Industry secret weapon and we use Neve PreAmps to make it sound much warmer and last we run it with an LA-2A Teletronix for compression.

In our studios we've had artists like MAG!C, Tiffany Young, Black Eyed Peas, Madison Beer, Tyler Yaweh, Armin Van Buuren, Far East Movement, and many more.

I've worked personally with Raul in the past on vocals. His recording, tuning and mixing skills regarding the voice is fantastic. He'd be a wonderful person to work with!

Interview with Raul

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Couple Armada Record projects.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both, Because there is a need of analog and digital for every occasion. If traveling I love to use the UAD Satellite to run high quality digital plugins, but if im at the studio I prefer using analog for more musical processing.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: To leave happy with a great quality project.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: The Editing & Mixing.

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: When will this project be done? it can take from 5 to 8 hours for the complete version of Vocals that youre looking. Sometimes as short as 2 Hours.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: Sony C800G, Neve 1073, UAD Apollo, Headphones & Laptop.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: ive ben doing this for about 9 years.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: Post Malone because of his vocals.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Vocal Production, Music Production & Mixing.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: We have a studio designed for Vocal Production in Hollywood, we run a very high end microphone which is know to be Justin Biebers secret weapon the Sony C800G and we use Neve PreAmps to make it sound much warmer and last we run it with an LA-2A Teletronix for compression. In our studios we've had artists like MAG!C, Tiffany Young, Black Eyed Peas, Madison Beer, Tyler Yaweh and many more.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: Vocal Production takes around 2-4 hours to get everything well recorded and mixed as I have a very solid framework for cutting vocals to expedite the process and eliminate time waste. For Mixing Typical work process is I get the files needed for mixing and turn it around in about 1-2 days. the client usually sends me a list of things to be done and references of other songs.

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: Vocal Producer

  25. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  26. A: What is your vision with this project of yours.

  27. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  28. A: To not be afraid of paying a high price if their engineer or producer have good credits and of course, SKILLS. Lot of people try to save money by hiring the cheapest engineers only to get a horrible job back.

  29. Q: How would you describe your style?

  30. A: Hard worker and very intellectual when it comes down to the engineering side of music.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: If you know how a compressor really really works then you have conquered the engineering side because everything needs balance and compression does that. If you can't correctly do that you will ruin mixes and masters all the time by improperly cutting off dynamics and life to a song.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: Pop & EDM

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Life, Fullness, Balance.

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: Post Malone, Travis Scott, Greg Wells, Marshmello
