OMG!!!!Chris just knocked me off my seat with his vocal performance. Chris has been a pleasure to work with. His delivery time was fast but most importantly his vocal ability is world class. His lead voice is versatile and beautifully soulful with a range to the moon but his harmonies are in a league of their own. Many singers provide harmonies that don't sound natural NOT CHRIS. Chris's harmonies sound so natural, unique and beautifully melodic. I highly recommend Chris, he's awesome!

Chris is a great guy to work with. It is sometimes not easy explaining to a singer exactly what you want in words but every time I suggested something Chris seemed to understand exactly what I meant and after a couple of takes delivered a perfect vocal. He is a very nice guy and has a great pop voice. I definitely want to work with him again in the future.

Not only is Chris an excellent producer and engineer, he is also an exceptionally talented and natural vocal director/producer. I’ve worked with many people over the years, each with varying degrees of skill in producing, but the one thing that I wish they all had was the ability to tell me directly and clearly what I needed to do vocally to make the performance and overall product better and closer to my vision. He has the vocal technique background to know what needs to change; moreover, he knows how to convey it in a way that doesn’t get lost in translation. In regards to his actual produci

Chris is so talented he has one of the best Soul, R&B (just to name a few) voices I've heard in a while. He did the theme song for my podcast. In the beginning I wasn't sure what I wanted exactly, I just told Chris what the podcast was about and he was able to come up with what is now my theme song and I am so happy... it is perfect.

I had the pleasure of working with Chris on a project earlier this year. I used him as a session singer, vocal contractor and vocal producer. He was top notch in every respect. Through his singing and his direction / production of other singers he truly brought my pieces to life. He took them from being ideas to fully formed, record-quality songs.
I have worked with a lot of vocalists for different projects, but Chris was truly a treat to work with! I am doing everything I can to find the right projects so that I can work with Chris again.

Chris is AMAZING! Not only do I trust him to get the best performance out of me, but he is the best to collab with. I will bring him an idea and he will elevate it to the next level! Truly a harmony master. I always have a great time in his studio, he is definitely my go to guy whenever I have a project to work on!

Interview with Chris Moy

  1. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  2. A: I'm really inspired by Bruno Mars' rise to success. When I was in my first band, Menudo, he wrote our first single, "Lost." Our A&R at Epic realized Bruno's undeniable talent and signed him because of that job. It's my hope that in helping others create their music, a similar opportunity will arrive for me as an artist, as well.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: I have a big ass desk with dual monitors. I work primarily in Logic. Decent speakers, decent mic, and a good interface. A humble set-up to say the least, but the greatest asset I bring to the table is my skill set. And that, I can bring anywhere.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: I would say I mostly do writing jobs (top line and lyrics). I'll typically record the demo for any songs I write by default. What I enjoy most is helping other singers achieve their peak performance while recording their own songs. It's easy to demonstrate techniques and offer detailed constructive criticism being a singer myself.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: Attention. That's key. I try to avoid any overlap in projects to ensure that any client I work with knows they have my undivided attention. Once that's established, the doors are open for any creative input or technical assistance I can provide.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I started singing professionally at 14 years old. There was a competition to be a part of the new incarnation of the legendary Puerto-Rican boyband Menudo, and I worked my ass off to prove that I deserved the spot that I ultimately won. We signed with Epic Records and manager Johnny Wright, and embarked on a journey that set my career in motion. We played tours all around the US, and performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, KIIS FM's Jingle Ball, and even the White House. When that group disbanded, JW put together my next group, One Call, which opened a few East coast dates of the Britney Spears Circus tour. In that group, I finally started recording music that I wrote with my bandmates. I've continued writing and recording music long after both of those bands, even getting THIS close to working with Max Martin. Ha ha! Perhaps our paths will cross again in the future. After relocating from NY to LA, I've spent the last 4 years acquiring both the skills and equipment to elevate my recording capabilities and to become self-sufficient in all aspects of creating music.

  11. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  12. A: Digital is my domain. The possibilities are endless for what you can do musically with the technology that's available today.

  13. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  14. A: Arthur Indrikovs--A brilliant, London-based mixer! I like working with him anytime I need assistance elevating a song to the next level. I trust his skills in making a song ready-for-release.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: I like to start by hearing a reference of the song, then speaking with the client to determine their vision, and establishing what they'd like to accomplish together. From there, I spend as much time as I need getting the song to that place. I like to keep an open channel of communication in case the client's preferences change and they want to try something different!
