Completely lived up to my expectation. I only gave about two sentences for the revision and he nailed it! I'm so happy with the remix he did for my song.

Mr. S. produces AMAZING work. He was very efficient, very fast and the quality was so professional. We had a great chat about different reference tracks prior to his composition and he fully nailed it! I'll be working with him again very soon!

MARC is a GENIUS! the song i Mastered for him was one of the greatest songs i've ever heard since joining the crew here at SoundBetter, and the mix was magnificent. I should also say that Marc is a gentleman and a scholar and a courteous, professional musician who communicates his ideas clearly and concisely. Anyone who has the privilege of working with him will be enriched by the experience.

Interview with Mr. Starbeast
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Lady Starbeast is special to me since its with my life partner and we learned the power of self management and brand image. We successfully booked tours across the US and self produce ourselves. We also got signed to a sync agency last year!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on several albums for multiple projects. I'm recording an emo/pop-punk band, Lady Starbeast (my own project with my spouse), BLACKPUNK! is a fresh new collab between Travie Austin and I as well
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Martin Cooke for his amazing mixing, Gentry Studer for his epic mastering, Travie Austin if you need a high caliber vocalist.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Having a clear vision of what you want really helps, as well as sound references. Having everything properly labeled and consolidated helps me work efficiently too.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook Maschine MKIII MicroKorg Guitar Interface
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been at it for 15 years, I could not escape music even if I tried. I started in 2010 when I attended The Art Institute of Austin for a bit, but the heavy price tag took its toll. That experience opened the door to my career though, now that i'd learned the technical side of audio and the power of networking. Throughout that time I've also been performing in bands on various instruments as well as being a session musician myself.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'm grateful to anyone who hires me and that I get to work in this field, so i'm very relaxed about the process and give each song 100% of my TLC.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: MUSE, my all time favorite band because they're amazing. I watched every studio video I could find of them!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: 1. If the recordings dont sound good raw, there's probably no saving them. 2. No amount of mixing will save a song from bad recordings and arrangements
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Dark-Pop, Pop-Punk, Pop, and Rock.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Turning ideas into full productions and creating chord progressions for vocal melodies.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Full scale Wall of Sound productions with real instruments such as guitar, bass, drums and synths.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Vocalists send me a scratch track, I produce up to the first chorus and send it back to them. If they like where it's going i'll finish it up and send the finalized arrangement, they'll record the official vocals, send them back to me to mix and master the song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in a fully treated room with high quality monitors and sub.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Martin Cooke (who also mixes my band Lady Starbeast) has an amazing ear. His mixing on top of Gentry Studer's mastering is sonic bliss. Other engineers I admire are The Lord-Alge Brothers, Nolly, and Eric Valentine. As far as hands on experience, I have been fortunate to work with amazing producers and engineers in their studios throughout my career in audio such as Stuart Sullivan and Matt Noveskey. Stuart showed me how much you can really push a preamp compressor as he made the drum room sound monstrous with the biggest grin on his face. Matt taught me how crucial good arrangement for a song really is. I also worked with Mike Cosgrove of Alien Ant Farm, we even played in a band together for a while. He taught me the true magic of having an amazing studio drummer and how its possible to get phenomenal sounding material out of a home studio.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Vocalists bring me their ideas and I bring them to life, I also enjoy remixing songs.
