Interview with Forte Studios
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: We work with the artist to determine the most efficient and comfortable process. Again, we are about adaptability and versatility. We aren't an ego driven studio or engineer that places limitations. Most projects include editing as we record. This ensure nothing is forgotten and keeps our engineer busy during the recording process while saving money for the customer. Plus, it allows for artist input! After the recording and editing is complete we focus our efforts on mixing and production. Lastly, the artist will decide if they would like basic mastering in house at Forte or ship it out to a specialty mastering facility for the complete world-class treatment.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! Positive and negative aspects on both routes. I'll admit, we tend to lean onto the digital side due to control ability.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We guarantee an experience and product that meets or exceeds expectations. If we fail, we don't expect to be paid.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Our skills and acoustical environment design enables us to work across multiple genres and styles We are differentiated by our versatility and environment spatial customization. The top three project styles include, Hip-Hop, Singer/songwriter and metal.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Understanding the science of acoustics and art of recording. We have found that vocals and drum recordings are one of our strongest areas in recording. When it comes to mixing, our endless possibilities allow us to be dynamic and help the artist produce quality mixes with production effects and layering that they never thought achievable.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some people think we are a label. We are not. We are a service company helping artists achieve their goals.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your goal for the project and how can we help you succeed?
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
