A violinist, arranger, composer, educator, and multi-instrumentalist, Francesco is best known by his peers as a string player who draws upon both extensive formal training, and an intuitive understanding of contemporary styles of music to create arrangements that weave intimately through the fabric of a song.
I have played Violin for 16 years and have studied Music Performance & Composition in many institutions, and from many renowned musicians of many musical traditions. (The Colburn School, Vardan Ovsepian, Sangeet School of Music, The World Stage, Miguel Atwood Ferguson).
As an active member of many different LA Music Scenes, I have performed at venues such as The Lodge Room & The Regent (Indie), The Blue Whale, Boston Court, General Lee's, & The Central Avenue Jazz festival (Jazz & R&B), The Smell & Pehrspace (Punk/Shoegaze/DiY), La Plaza Olvera & Pico House (Latin), as well as on UCLA Radio, KXLU, KUCI, and Dublab.
I have a home recording setup and am available to track both Violin and Cello remotely. I can bounce high quality stems that you can then add to the parent mix. I can compose a String Arrangement for your song and record the parts myself as well. As a performer who has worked in many different stylistic contexts I will craft an arrangement that compliments the unique characteristics of your work.
I can also compose music for your Film/Commercial/etc, and can reach out to fellow session musicians and collaborators to record other instrumental parts. (Trumpet, Saxophone, Woodwinds, Flute, Trombone, Harp, Piano/Keyboard/Synthesizers, Guitar, +many more).
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions; I look forward to hearing from you :)

Francesco added beautiful cello and violin to my track, making my synth strings sound like a whole orchestra. Very happy with the result and will be working with him again on other projects for sure!
In a major city where the search for composers who can deliver both the technical and stylish know-how, along with performance abilities to manifest the best, look no further! As a musician myself, I've gained much more confidence and have been given desired results live and recorded, from Francesco's services. An unregrettable investment!
Interview with Francesco Canas
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common requests are for string section work & multi tracking, followed by solo violin tracks. I also really enjoy introducing different musicians to each other and booking shows.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to start by just tracking and recording a lot of different improvised melodies. After I have a few different takes I feel like ideas start naturally coming together & I go with what sounds most exciting. When collaborating, every song is different and really listening to what the other person is looking for is super important.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: When in doubt, trust your creativity and your ideas
