Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Im not a DJ!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have equal length wave files for each track? Whats your vision of the song? List 2-4 songs that have a similar sonic vibe as your looking for When do you require it by?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Prepare your material. Know your vision. Commit to recording the sound, sometimes 'fixing it in the mix or mastering' is not always the best approach. Record the guitar w/Reverb! Record your vocal with subtle eq! with this approach your leaving your mixing engineer to polish the job to perfection within the time-frame.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jack White, Muse, Royal Blood.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: think outside the square. Try signal chains you think wouldn't - Secondly - know the sound/flavour/soul of each piece if equipment/instrument you have. Sometimes just having a compressor in-line but no compressing brings a track within a song to life.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Generally in the past I have always worked on either Rock, Jazz & Folk Genres. However lately with the up-rise of remote online mixing services etc I have been seeing alot more indie, hip-hop & EDM music as well.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being able to understand not only customers/artists requirements, but there artistic impression and vision for the project as well.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Fresh Perspective, Fresh Ears, 20 Years of Experience including mix techniques that have taken years to develop and perfect.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Depends on the job at hand, the type of content within the track and also very much the genre of music. I like to connect with the emotion of the song, and find the natural space in the soundstage for each instrument and/or vocal.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I Use a digital workflow using Protools with a HD system as an interface, however I use an Apogee D/A Converter for my monitoring and print of sessions. I Use a Digidesign C24 control surface. As I do not track my studio, the I/O simply interfaces the large amount of analog gear at my disposal inc: Focusrite ISA, Amek Purepaths, Smart Research, Rupert Neve, Summit Audio, Avalon Designs + More. Monitoring is: Meyer HD1's, ATC SMC20 & Yamaha NS10's
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: No where enough here space to elaborate on the large amount of people that have influenced me, taught me, inspired me, both fellow engineers and artists.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: 80% of the work I do at my mix studio is for an Artist who has either recorded themselves or used a local studio to track the song - but want a fresh set of ears to mix & master the album to take it to the next level. The other 20% is generally Jingle, Video Advert, Audio Mastering for Online content etc.
