Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I’m always most proud of my recent work. I'm really proud of my own project where I write, produce and mix all of my own songs. I've got100k listeners on Spotify on my own project.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: macbook pro, barefoot minimain, neve pre, manley ref, apollo x

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I've built y own studio and fitted my Barefoot minimain12 for an amazing sound experience. For Recording vocalsi mostly use my Manley gold reference mic into my legendary neve pre.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Digital. Used to do both but now I'm all digital. That way I'ts faster to recall a session if a client wants changes. That saves me time and saves the client money.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I only take the job if I know I Can make a difference

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Helping artists with optimizing their work and turn their visions into reality.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: How fast can you get it done? Usually within 24 hours!

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: “Making things louder”. Mixing is about putting the pieces togehter in the right order so you can clearly see the full picture.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I usually ask for a reference track just to make sure we're on the same page. Depending on what they want I sometimes ask for files both wet and dry.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Check up on the credits. Ask to hear what they’ve done.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I started out as an artist in a duo 10 years ago. After doing that a couple of years i started working more as a songwriter and producer and put my artist project on the shelf. After a while I got mere into mixing and studied Audio Engineering at Musicians Institute in Hollywood.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: I would desribe my mixes as clean and punchy. I love combining a strong low-end with punchy vocals.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I work mostly in pop and electronic music but also hip-hop from time to time.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: I work fast and efficient. Since i work as an artist myself I know how to understand people who are not used to speak in “mixing” terms.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I clean up the track and make the elements stand out for themselves. Unlike a lot of other engineers I don't rely too much on “what is right”. If the mix sounds good, it is good!

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: First of all, if the client wants me to, I'll give some feedback on the mix. After that the client sends me either all the files individually or as stems. Normally I also ask for 1 or 2 reference tracks.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I'm inspired by the legendary mixing engineers out there such as Jaycen Joshua and Serban Ghenea

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: I work with a variety of artists and have my own solo artist project as "Micky Skeel"

A: I've worked a a bunch with Tom from "Mastering the Mix". He's a great guy.
