I am an orchestrator and worked with Austin for an artist who needed heavy orchestral elements on his song. I’ve never worked with a pop mixer who could really mix orchestral elements well too but Austin’s experience really came through and restored a lot of my trust. Austin has my professional loyalty, I’ll definitely call him whenever I can.

This is the second time Austin has completed incredible work for me. He literally started the dang thing before we even officially started a job and we ended up completely the entire thing incredibly quickly. Thanks so much for another incredible job well done!

I had a great time working on Innocent Goodbye. The tracks were well-prepared and it was a pleasure to mix. Austin was my main contact and was easy and direct to work with on what was a fairly complex project. Notes with Austin and Teresa were productive and efficient. As an added bonus, it turned out every bit as fine in the end as I'd hoped it would when I first saw the rough cut. A great experience all around!
Austin is the best mixer I ever worked with! His work is great and he spends time with you to understand your needs and what you are looking for. Very professional and friendly!
Simply put, Austin is a beast when it comes to mixing and mastering. I’ve been a fan of countless albums he’s worked on, and had the pleasure of taking an in-depth 1 on 1 mixing lesson with him. The efficiency of his process and his vast knowledge help him make incredible sounding mixes in a very short time. Do yourself a favor a hire him for your next project, it’ll be a banger!
I've had a very pleasant experience with Austin working to mix my track for placement opportunities. I will recommend his services for anyone interested.
Austin is a fountain of knowledge! I loved working with him on a mix session and am looking forward to doing another one ASAP.
Austin is a great mix engineer and great to work with. He is fast and reliable and his mixes are killer. I highly recommend Austin.
I started working with Austin in late 2020, after hundreds of TV episodes and promos aired using cues I'd written & mixed in my home studio. I was ready to "level up" my mixing game. I felt like I'd heard all of the advice out there.... But I wasn't always sure which techniques to apply — and which to avoid. Austin's advice not only cleared up my confusion but his mixing shows me how my music can sound it's best.
Amazing producer/mixer. Have worked with him on multiple albums and he has been an amazing asset to each of those projects! Highly recommended!
Whilst I didn't contact Austin through Soundbetter I can still provide an honest review. Austin has mixed a few tracks of mine on a horror trailer release and he really brought out the best in them. They are far more punchy, impactful and present with a much better depth of field than before. I have also had the pleasure of doing a 3 hour lesson with him and I learnt a LOT - obviously it doesn't make me a great mix engineer - that takes years - but I definitely took away several go to tips and processes that have improved my own mixing skills.
He is also a lovely guy too by the way!Incredibly talented producer. Thoroughly knowledgeable and thoughtful about all aspects involved with mixing and producing. I’m very much looking forward to the next time I need him. Would highly recommend Austin, without question.
Austin is probably one of THE greatest producers I've ever had the pleasure of working with. He definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to mixing/mastering, and it was evident as soon as I heard some of my finalized tracks that we had worked on at Ghostwriter Music.
The man is simply the best. I've currently never had someone do a better job of mastering my tracks.
If you're looking to learn the "ins and outs" of mixing/mastering, he's your guy!
I've worked on three different albums with Austin, and the process has been incredible. He's attentive to my wishes as a producer and sensitive to my musical vision, gives helpful constructive feedback, and has a great ear for the musical detail within a mix. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing mix and mastering help. He's a friendly, easy-going guy who's about as easy to work with as you could ever want, and the results of his work have been even better than I've hoped for. It's been a pleasure thus far and I will definitely work with him again in the future, no question.
Interview with Austin Seltzer
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The track I’m most proud of is ‘Austin’ by Dasha, which I mixed and mastered. At the time, Dasha was an incredibly talented but unknown artist. The song was released on my friend’s label, Version iii, and from there it catapulted her career, eventually leading her to Warner Music. Today, ‘Austin’ is a hit, and Dasha’s life has been forever changed. It’s a reminder of the power one song can have.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I kindly ask that you’re timely with your responses, as I manage a high volume of mixes each week and strive to provide quick turnarounds. I’d also love to hear how close you feel your rough mix is to your final vision for the track. This helps me better understand what you’re looking for in my work.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I highly recommend asking your mix or mastering engineer for examples of their work in your genre. I’ve heard too many stories of artists being disappointed after working with an engineer who wasn’t experienced in their specific style.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: High energy, refind clean grit, and loud.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I specialize in all genres of pop—dance pop, indie pop, alt pop, and K-pop—but my work also extends to country, rock, and hip hop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: On the first listen of a track, I can quickly understand its message, identify the target audience, and see where it can be elevated while staying true to the rough mix and the artist’s vision.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring over 10 years of professional music experience, along with a lifetime of passion for sound and ear training. It’s been a privilege to work on platinum records, #1 albums, and to have contributed to over a billion streams on Spotify. I’m always excited to help artists bring their vision to life.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I prefer to receive the full production session for mixing, with my clients freezing their sessions and sending them to my assistant for preparation. I generally avoid working from stems, as they often diminish the vibe and character of the track. In my experience, this approach leads to significantly better results.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work out of a custom-built studio designed by Gerhard Westphalen. I work entirely in the box to turn around music efficiently, but I can still achieve the analog sound from my time using outboard gear training my ears.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a mixing and mastering engineer specializing in mostly high-energy pop, electronic, and alt-rock, though I have worked on virtually all genres.
