Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: The track I’m most proud of is ‘Austin’ by Dasha, which I mixed and mastered. At the time, Dasha was an incredibly talented but unknown artist. The song was released on my friend’s label, Version iii, and from there it catapulted her career, eventually leading her to Warner Music. Today, ‘Austin’ is a hit, and Dasha’s life has been forever changed. It’s a reminder of the power one song can have.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I kindly ask that you’re timely with your responses, as I manage a high volume of mixes each week and strive to provide quick turnarounds. I’d also love to hear how close you feel your rough mix is to your final vision for the track. This helps me better understand what you’re looking for in my work.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: I highly recommend asking your mix or mastering engineer for examples of their work in your genre. I’ve heard too many stories of artists being disappointed after working with an engineer who wasn’t experienced in their specific style.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: High energy, refind clean grit, and loud.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I specialize in all genres of pop—dance pop, indie pop, alt pop, and K-pop—but my work also extends to country, rock, and hip hop.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: On the first listen of a track, I can quickly understand its message, identify the target audience, and see where it can be elevated while staying true to the rough mix and the artist’s vision.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring over 10 years of professional music experience, along with a lifetime of passion for sound and ear training. It’s been a privilege to work on platinum records, #1 albums, and to have contributed to over a billion streams on Spotify. I’m always excited to help artists bring their vision to life.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I prefer to receive the full production session for mixing, with my clients freezing their sessions and sending them to my assistant for preparation. I generally avoid working from stems, as they often diminish the vibe and character of the track. In my experience, this approach leads to significantly better results.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I work out of a custom-built studio designed by Gerhard Westphalen. I work entirely in the box to turn around music efficiently, but I can still achieve the analog sound from my time using outboard gear training my ears.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I am a mixing and mastering engineer specializing in mostly high-energy pop, electronic, and alt-rock, though I have worked on virtually all genres.
