Let's make some music together. Or you can make it, and I'll just turn things up and down.
I compose, produce, mix and play music. I have a studio in Los Angeles, and tools to get stuff done. When i’m not doing music i’m running marathons. Not because i like them, but because by doing so i raise money to provide clean water to communities in Africa (more specifically the Congo). More deaths are caused by water related diseases than malaria and AIDS combined. Fortunately, there IS something we can do about it. I’ve partnered up with Team World Vision and have literally seen huge water projects built. We’re talking huge irrigation systems, sanitation stations and solar powered projects. $50 can provide a child clean water for life. And sponsoring a child helps build up that kid's community by building hospitals and schools and other resources that are lacking. This crisis is something that we can end in OUR lifetime.

Interview with RickEy2
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: yes
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Really proud of a song i wrote inspired by my trip to the Congo in June of 2017. I wrote/produced/engineered and sang a little on it. I'm proud of the friends that came together to help me record it, and the picture the song paints.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Working on 2 Live Worship Albums/Recordings and a Hip Hop Album.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. They both have different sounds and vibes, and they both have features that you can only get from one or the other.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll put my effort into your project.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love engineering, I love creating, I love music. I love that I get to leave my house and family space everyday and go into my own creative space that feels like home.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: how much do I charge? 1 million dollars
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Biggest misconception is that i'll take anything horrible and transform it into something great. If there is potential and passion and honesty in something that doesn't sound the best (yet), I will work with that person/project and get it sounding the best it can.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What's your timeframe and why? What's the purpose of this album for you?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing music since i was in preschool. recorded my first cd in grade school (using a tape machine). After college (Berklee) I moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and have been doing music ever since.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style in a work sense is very relaxed, comfortable and open. I let ideas and creativity come. This is ideal when we have time. When on a schedule, we must move fast.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to work with Take 6. Mainly so I could just sit in the studio and watch and listen to geniuses at work. I'd also love to work with Bjork. I love her voice.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My work weeks vary constantly from styles to languages. Under my belt are Spanish Pop/Rock, K-Pop, Classical, Hip-Hop, Gospel, Contemporary Christian, J-Pop, and Traditional Taiwanese.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: If you want the regular stuff, go somewhere else. want something different, lets chat.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: computer, townsend mic, apollo interface, solar powered power supply, iphone
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: if it feels good, go for it.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: optimism
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: whatever’s needed. sometimes it’s ears, sometimes its an instrument, sometimes its arranging, sometimes its music and lyrics.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Differs from person to person.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mainly work out of my “dreamcave”. My goto’s are the Townsend Mic, UA Apollo units, Softube Console One, PreSonus Faderport 16, Logic X, Guitars, Basses, and Bagpipes. With the Townsend and Apollo, I get all kinds of options of classic gear from U47 mics to classic 610.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: All time personal fav Take 6. It’s hard to talk about some of the new guys because we’ve gotten rid of album credits. But there is good work being done all over the world at high levels.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: What i do most is take thoughts and ideas and start forming music. At bare minimum we at least get a sense of where we need to go.
