Your music and sonic vision are my highest priority!
I make and play music everyday for my clients and for my enjoyment. I love music and creating music with others. Most of the time I'm Engineering/Producing/Mixing and Mastering sessions for Artists and Bands in the UK's vibrant Folk/Roots and Singer-Songwriter and Jazz scenes. I've also been a session drummer for over 30 years now, recording many different styles, from "pocket" playing for Singer/Songwriters to full on Jazz improv. I have a comfortable, relaxed and creative studio in the Scottish countryside near Edinburgh. I use this room for Mixing/Mastering/Composition and remote Drum Tracking. I have great mics, pre's, compressors and effects, all to get the sound your looking for. Check out www.caribourecording.com for a lot more music to listen to. See if I'm the right person for you.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Endorse Mattie FouldsMattie is a stunning drummer and awesome engineer - traits bound together by warmth, enthusiasm and wit, all of which makes work with him seem like anything but. Caribou is great to escape to, freeing the creative spirit and capturing the results perfectly.
I have worked on various recording projects with Mattie over the last decade. He gets the best fiddle sound ever, keeps me right in the most supportive way when I am not hitting those notes, coaxes great performances out of me and is generally a bit of a star! Caribou is a great space, generously proportioned and in a stunning location. We have made some great videos there too. Mattie is always 100% focussed, has real attention for detail and takes pride and care in all his recording work as well as being a great musician himself. What's not to like.
I recently worked with Mattie on the new album from Norma Waterson and Eliza Carthy, Anchor, which he was engineering. His recording and mixing techniques were superb and on top of that he gave my cor anglais the most amazing reverb!
This was my third time working with Mattie on an album so I knew how great he was to work with, but Caribou was really special. A beautiful location with a view that is ever changing and enough space to be creative and focused. Mattie and I produced my latest record Here's My Heart Come Take It together at Caribou. It was a very exciting and creative time. Mattie took the lead but was also very patient with my requests and changes! He would go out of his way to make sure I was happy with the final mix. I can't recommend Mattie and Caribou highly enough. A wonderful place to record an album!
Mattie Foulds has everything you could want in an engineer - expertise, patience, creativity, great ears and impeccable taste. If you want to make a great record, there’s a few places you could go - but if you want to make a great record in a beautiful, peaceful and supportive environment then go to Caribou.
We (The Biscuit Tin Collective) recorded our first album with Mattie and later this year, we will be returning to Caribou to start the second...we didn't even consider going elsewhere because no other studio has Mattie Foulds.
I've worked with Mattie on all three of my solo albums - it's great to work with him as a producer, and he's my very favourite drummer in all the world! I'd heartily recommend him :)
I worked with Mattie on my first album at Caribou Recording. He did an amazing job - it turned out better than I could have imagined, and he’s a super cool bloke too. I would highly recommend him!
Mattie has engineered and/or produced several of my solo albums, as well as additional percussion and vocal sessions for collaborative projects. Everything always sounds great. And the studio environment is a peaceful place in which to record.
I have worked with Mattie both in his studio and on location recording. He is a brilliant engineer, producer and drummer. He has great ears, he's really creative and is a lovely guy too.
Mattie (and his mobile studio) worked on Bella Hardy and I’s songwriting retreat at Moniack Mhor Cretive Writing Centre, Scotland. He is held in high regard for his work with established artists and he is also fantastic (patient and kind) with people new to the recording and songwriting processes.
