Interview with Aaron Roman
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: All kinds of music that is primarily produced on a computer.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work within a hybrid analog/in the box setup. I use different of plugins however, I do like to keep things simple and only use ones that I know will get my the results I'm after quickly. I have an acoustically treated room along with Dutch & Dutch 8C Monitors, RME - Lynx Hilo and Solaris converters, along with a BAX EQ, Ibis parametric EQ and API 2500+ Buss compressor.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production, mixing and mastering all things electronic music based.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: 100% dedication 100% satisfaction
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Keeping things super simple. It's not what you use, it's how you use it. Most of the issues I encounter with clients is over working sounds. Stripping things back can add more clarity and separation.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Everything goes back to sound section. Most of my tracks now have barley any crazy EQ'ing, its all about finding the right sounds that work together. When you hit that level, even your demos can sound like finished products.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Experience and perspective. I believe that hiring an engineer isn't about what gear they use. Its about having the right set of ears to make crucial judgements.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Simple and organised
