Big sounds for smaller budgets! I especially love to work with Indie Artists and Singer Songwriters because i think there is way too much Cookie Cutter Music going on these days. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither should a project be finished in a day. You will get out of it only as much as you put in! If you feel the same let's talk!
I work with both mainstream and indie artists and songwriters to help them get top notch quality recordings at an affordable price. I arrange music and can if needed provide additional strings, horns and orchestra arrangements if the music dictates.I do audio engineering, mixing, remixing, and mastering. Sometimes a project is good but maybe it was just mixed wrong and needs a fresh ear.

Interview with David Van Walker
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: i coproduced and played some keyboards on a project with the group Herrick on one of their new projects. I was honored to work with the legendary producer out of Nashville Snake Reynolds.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am multitasking. I am working and finishing up a contemporary Christian project for a female artist and also working on a Christmas project for another artist.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I am actually fairly new to SoundBetter but give me time lol.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I like analog for the warmth but digital made recording affordable to the world.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To always give 100% of my time and attention.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like making music!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How fast can you have this done. As fast as i can do it and still give you top notch quality.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That you can flip a switch and get the sound you want. When something sounds great it's because a lot of thought and effort not to mention talent was put into it.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your style? Who are your biggest influences? How many songs have you written?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just really know what it is you want to achieve with your music.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: assuming we have power i would take a synthesizer, acoustic guitar, microphone, computer and interface.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: i have been writing recording and arranging music for the last 20 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Contemporary at least that's what everyone tells me.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: 2 types. I enjoy really big singers cause they require more production but i also like singer songwriters cause i believe what they do is more of a true artform.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I am a stacker. All the big producers stack and that's why the sound is so big. I stack guitars, keyboards and lots of vocal stacking!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Everything from Country to Rock and i have also worked on a lot of Christian music projects.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Song Arranging and Song Editing and also Keyboard parts.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I was a songwriter before i got into production so i understand songs and songwriters and the production doesn't mean much if the song isn't any good.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Listen to the song and think about an arrangement. Then i sit down create a drum loop to work with that i may or may not use later and then i start laying down parts to see what will work and what won't.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is more geared for the solo and overdubbing sessions although occasionally i still record live bands.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I like big lush productions like that of David Foster or Mutt Lange and most of my favorite musicians are piano players lol.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in Song arrangement and Music Production, especially keyboard oriented type music where i am laying out all the parts and arranging vocals as well.
