Multiple releases with NCS, and Magic Music. I've been consistently writing and performing vocals for electronic music over the past few years under the name Like Lions, and I've had dozens of songs signed and released with collaborators from all over the world.
I specialize in writing catchy hooks, thoughtful lyrics and giving warm emotional vocal performances. I work well with some direction or references when top-lining, but am also happy to work without a specific vocal reference or guideline. I have a large vocal range and am comfortable providing thick vocal harmonies and layers when needed. I run my own recording studio and track all my own vocals using a Slate Digital VMS modeling Microphone.

Patrick is a great professional who has significantly improved my lyrics with the first touch and saved its rhythmic structure..so it still perfectly matched my track.

Interview with Patrick O'Neill
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Mel Ody & Like Lions - "Living with Ghosts" : Mel Ody and I have been working together for a little over a year now and his sound has developed in a really awesome way and I think we've become more comfortable collaborating together and this is the song where we've really hit our stride.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A wide array of singles with artists from all over, an EP for a licensing company I work with, and a full length album for another.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Marrying the two is the way to make music these days. Got to take advantage of the tools you have! I'm certain Brian Wilson would have loved Logic's comping process when he was mixing "Pet Sounds" hahaha
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You will love this music
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being creative, telling stories, working on music with people from all over the world
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Do you want to work on another track? Answer? Yes
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Everything I write about is a direct reference to something that actually happened to me
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What's your goal with this song? (release, label submissions, license etc)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't worry about hurting my feelings. I've been doing this long enough I've got thick skin, I just like to make great music, so if we're finding a way to do that, great, if not, let's pivot.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Midi-Keyboard, Mic/Cable, Interface, Guitar
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started writing lyrics and vocals in a pop/rock band with my cousins at 11. I picked up the guitar at 13 and spent a few years making post-grunge rock music. I spent my late teens writing indie-folk music, heavily inspired by Elliott Smith, Pedro the Lion etc. Since my 20's I have been writing in a wide array of genres from progressive rock to indie-rock, folk, pop and EDM. I play guitar well as its my first instrument, I play a little bass (like a guitar player haha), a little bit of piano and I can fumble my way around a harmonica and a ukulele.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Personally, I am laid back to work with, but very punctual with deadlines and quick with revisions. Musically, I'd describe myself as melancholic, or introspective.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Bon Iver. From what I've read, I find his creative process to be fascinating and I am hugely grateful he uses his platform to give voice to social issues he cares deeply about
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Keep writing
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: EDM, Pop, Indie-Pop, Folk
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Hooks
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Thoughtful and unique lyricism, strong hooks, strong vocal presentation
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once I receive a demo from an artist I generally take 24-48 hours to write and demo of a verse/hook idea. Once artist signs off on the idea I will get a 2nd verse and bridge written and I will track final vocals, edit them and get the stems to you. Once I've received a thumbs up on melodies from producer/artist I will get vocals tracked and stems back in 24 hours
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a small studio in Seattle, WA I run Logic and use a Slate Vintage Modeling Mic for all my vocals, Izotope Nectar Vocal Suite for vocal editing and production.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Bon Iver, Tyler the Creator, The Weeknd, James Blake
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Write lyrics and melodies and then perform, record and edit those vocals before sending stems to them for mixing etc
