My name is Tyler Wirtz. I help write and create Electronic Pop music for independent artists and songwriters. I am passionate about helping artists and songwriters create unique pop and electronic music for release and placements.
I'm a Recording Engineer, Producer, and Songwriter that specializes in Electronic and Pop music. In past years I have worked with a variety of genres including singer-songwriter, electronic, rap, heavy metal, and more.
I love working directly with artists and songwriters to help create personalized productions for their music. It all starts with a simple discussion about the overall goals and vision for the project. I want to fully understand what you're ideas are for the music before we get started, that way the process is as smooth and efficient as possible!
I am a graduate from Full Sail University in Orlando Florida with a BA in Recording Arts, and am certified by Avid in Pro Tools HD systems. After graduating I started an internship at ReAmp Recording Studios in Tustin, CA. I quickly grew into a member of the team and joined part-owner of the business. This has given me real-world experience managing a studio, running sessions, working with the clients, as well as all the administrative aspects of running a business. Now operating as a freelance engineer, my main focus is to work closely with the artist to turn their music and ideas into a reality.

Tyler was incredible when it came to supporting me finding the vision and flow of the entire song. He was very professional and communicative. He always asked for feedback (although there was minimal required) and the quality was incredible. I will be working with him on more songs because of how great he was. Thanks Tyler!

It was a pleasure working on my track with Tyler he did the mix and master very well my song sound so powerful and clean also he is a nice guy thanks tyler for all the tips you gave me during the project
Working with Tyler truly has been a revelation for my music career. I was new to Los Angeles and needed someone to track my vocals for my song “Fever”. After being referred to him, I knew from our first session that I wanted to keep working with Tyler. Since meeting we’ve worked on 4 tracks together. Tyler is communicative, sound in his process and pushes me to be better with each session we get together for. The best part? Tyler truly cares about seeing your project succeed. Would recommend him to anyone who needs not only a talented producer, but a true advocate for your success.
If I were to write a Lifetime Original movie about what it's like working with him, it would be called "Above & Beyond: The Tyler Wirtz Story"
Seriously though - he's a thoughtful, detail-oriented producer with some SERIOUS sound design chops. A great communicator, a great collaborator, and just a great all-around human.
I'd give him six stars if I could.
I had a wonderful time working with Tyler! He is very easy to work with and really cares about the finished product. He mixed and mastered my album, and I am very happy with the results!
Tyler is a thoughtful, creative producer that is the best of both worlds - crazy talented AND a great collaborator. You want good people on your team? Tyler's your guy.
Tyler Wirtz is a dream to work with. He understands exactly where to take a song and is incredible when it comes to programming, producing, mixing and mastering. This guy is a one stop shop. Poolside in LA (Cakeknife Remix) is legit a Musical Masterpiece.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with Tyler twice, and each time it’s been a pleasure. He is confident in his craft, patient with the artist in each phase of the process and an overall cool dude that you can easily relate to.
Tyler is a professional. He has been timely in mix delivery, response time to questions and even has his paperwork in order! It always feels like the premium working together, as he often exceeds standards.
I’d recommend T. Wirtz Productions for rock, metal, electronic, hip hop and country.
Tyler's recorded and produced a couple of my songs and I am definitely planning to do more with him! He is such a fun person to work with. He's also incredibly talented at what he does - I'm always learning new things when I'm in the studio with him. I highly recommend working with Tyler, you'll always get a great sounding product!
I've worked with Tyler on a variety of different projects and the results are always amazing. Besides being easy and fun to work with, his technical skills and knowledge as well as his creativity always brings the project to the next level. Whether it is mixing, production, or recording, Tyler is the best guy for the job. He puts his all into everything he does, and I would highly recommend him for your next project, whatever it may be.
Tyler is AMAZING at what he does. I've had the opportunity to work with him on numerous projects as well as on my own. He's constantly outdoing himself and puts his all into everything he works on. His creativity and insight is fresh and innovative which makes working with him that much better. With the perfect blend of professionalism and being super personable, Tyler is definitely the right producer for you.
I've worked with Tyler on multiple projects in different genres and can confidently say he is an excellent choice for your music. He has the background, education, and experience to not just be another amateur audio fan but a true professional. I've personally seen him gone beyond expectations on projects that he throws himself 110% into and you will not be disappointed with the time, effort, and professionalism he brings to the project.
We had an absolutely stellar time working with Tyler! He’s a top-notch professional when it comes to the technical side of things, and even more importantly, he cares about the integrity and vision of a project. This was our first studio experience, and we couldn’t have been happier. From communication to scheduling to recording to mixing, Tyler made the whole process smooth. He honestly helped us learn a ton about making music. We totally endorse Tyler, and we hope to work together again in the future!
Tyler is incredibly talented, patient, and personable. I've worked with him on various projects ranging from electronic to metal, and he has always exceeded my expectations, making every song the best it can sound and helping me to find my voice for how I want each project to sound. Even with remote production, I'm amazed by his speed and skill. I can send him some melodies, guitar riffs, and/or a rough framework of a song along with some notes, and he'll send back a near complete track, often inspiring me to continue working on it when I was discouraged or had no idea where to go with it.
"I've worked with Tyler on more songs than I can count, and every time he knocks it out of the park. He cares about your project or your music as if it was his own, and because of that, he takes the extra measures into making sure it's done right. From a technical standpoint his understanding of gear, plugins, production and mixing is on par with some of the bigger players in the game. I'd recommend Tyler for anything audio or music related any day!"
Working with Tyler is always a pleasure. He does a great job listening to what I want and balancing that with his natural ear for this kind of stuff. Tyler has helped my band develop a sound and a style that is perfect for us, and create songs that we are proud of. I would highly recommend working with Tyler for your next project, he really is an expert at what he does!
Ok, so Tyler is an absolute beast at his job! Regardless of your style of music, he’ll get it done for you in ways you couldn’t imagine. Honestly, if anyone is looking for someone to help them lay down their ideas on record, or if you’re even looking for someone to just be creative with, Tyler is the man!
Interview with Tyler Wirtz Productions
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Carl Bahner, Mark Frigo
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: In 2019 I really started putting time into my own artist project called CakeKnife. I put out 6 singles in the second half of the year. I've started the writing process for 2020 and getting things lined up for the new year.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I make music and send artists on their way. I like to work with artists and help them throughout every step of the process, not just recording and producing music. Once we've started working together, I'm always available to help answer questions and offer any tips and recourses I have available. Your success is just as important to me as it is to you. We're working together!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Do your research and make sure to find the right provider for you. You won't achieve the best results by working with someone who isn't the right fit.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Apollo Twin, SM7B, Serum, Kontakt
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication. Without proper communication, a project can go south fast. I always strive to keep an open line of communication with my clients to make sure we are on the same page throughout the project. That way we can work together to keep the project moving forward and avoid any wasted time having to revisit anything.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always want to make sure that I'm servicing the artist and the song as best as possible. Prior to starting a project, I like to sit down with the artist to go through pre-production, go over references, and help define a sound for their music. That way once we start the writing process, we have a road map ready to go.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I enjoy working with Pop and EDM artists. Occasionally I will break out those and go back to my roots of rock and metal.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I primarily work with digital synths and other software, however, I always love the opportunity to work with Analog outboard gear, synths, and FX. Digital just offers the ease of travel and recall-ability in my sessions makes it simple when moving from place to place.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are you looking to do with your songs? What are the overall goals for the project? Is there a deadline? When would you like to release? What style or genre are these songs? Are there any artists or songs that are similar to the style of what you'd like your songs to sound like? What type of instrumentation would you like (electronic, live, a blend of both?)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I do a lot of work both in the studio and at home. When recording things like live instrumentation and vocals, I prefer to work out of the local studio. This way I have access to an amazing room, a great selection of microphones and outboard gear. When working at home, im working on a home setup using Pro Tools 12, JBL 305 Monitors, and the UAD Apollo Twin Interface. I have a huge list of virtual instruments, mixing plugins, as well as an assortment of guitars and basses, and microphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: It all started with the guitar at age 10 when I picked up the guitar. From there I played with friends and bands for many years, throughout high school and into college. During that time I had worked with a few different styles and recorded in the studio. That is where my interest in recording really started. I wanted to learn more about recording and production so I attended Full Sail University in Orlando Florida, receiving my BA in Recording Arts in June 2015. After school I moved to Southern California and started interning at the local studio. After about 500 hours of intern time, I was asked to join as part owner of the business and continue to work with clients. That gave the ability to really get my feet planted, build a client base, and really grow and perfect my craft. Since then I have continued to work with local artists and grow as a producer/engineer.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My best music production tip would be to communicate! Communication is key to creating a successful project. Ensuring that we are on the same page every step of the process from start to finish will help keep the process running smooth. I do my best to keep you posted on where I am when working on a project, as well as asking any questions that come up a long to the way to make sure that there is no wasted time or efforts on either end.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Every song and project is different! It depends on the music, the artists, and what the desired sound is for the project. I like to speak with artist a bit and find out what your vision is for the project in order to understand the approach that needs to be taken.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I really draw inspiration from all over. I have a very diverse taste in music ranging from hip hop, EDM, Heavy Metal, Singer Songwriter, etc. Artists that I enjoy listening too and take inspiration from are Periphery, Veil Of Maya, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Aaron Carter, The Chainsmokers, San Holo, City and Colour, Mumford and Songs, etc.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of my work is working one on one with the artist in the studio tracking instruments/vocals or building productions around scratch tracks. I do both live instrument recording as well as a lot of MIDI programming and production "in the box"
