Interview with Waveform Wizards
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The latest single from Hip Hop artist Guilty Smiles "Yay for G" as it had a very content concerning the stories of addicts and their lives. I produced the instrumental, mixed, mastered and made the cover art for this song. It went live in stores at the beginning of this month.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: 4 albums for Pig Latin Productions, 11 Freelance mixing and mastering projects.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I have the equipment to render both but personally I prefer digital unless I'm shooting for the analog tube warmth in the sound.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Satisfaction or your money back.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love doing this. I spend all day in the studio and enjoy every moment. The challenge must be met!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How fast can you get this job done? For a mix and master I would estimate 2 hours per track barring any excess difficulties For a master of an already mixed track I would estimate 1-2 hours per track
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That anyone can order some low priced gear on eBay, download software and achieve the same quality and feel. My expertise in what is required to make a radio quality song is top shelf.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have an idea of how you prefer you mixes to sound? (Example: Heavy low end, crisp highs, etc)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I have over 10 years experience and will beat any reasonable bid. I'm ready to work and get it done quickly with no quality sacrificed.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Condenser Microphone, Audio Interface, Solar Converter, and Audio Monitors
