I specialise in arranging, producing and mixing Indie/Alternative music.
I have been producing and recording music for over 10 years and believe i have a unique ear for bringing out the best in a song and presenting it in a creative way.
I have learnt through assisting some of the best in the business including Grammy and ARIA award winning producers David Bottrill and Lachlan Mitchell.
I also work as a session musician live and in the studio playing guitar, bass and synthesizer.
Feel free to contact me, i would love to help you with your project!

Interview with Simon Dobson
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That i get to work for myself, be creative and most importantly, help people realise their musical ambitions!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital gives me many more options, it is much quicker and easier to recall and tweak! It doesn't hinder my creativity and allows me to act upon an idea almost instantly. Plus the sound is constantly improving.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask for any demos and reference tracks.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't be shy!

A: My focal monitors, ULN8, computer, sm7 and c12 clone.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: There are no rules :)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly work on Indie and Alternate music, however, I also work on a lot of Pop and some heavier styles of music.

A: I work from my home studio, Lakehouse Audio. I work mainly in the box as i feel it allows for a lot more options, however, i am a huge fan of analog synthesizers!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am a big fan of Kurt Ballous unique and aggressive production and mixing style. Also mixes by John Congleton and Tchad Blake. Anything unique and creative!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
