Music Producer, Songwriting

My company is called Squirrel King Records. We have been in operation since summer 2014. I work closely with multi No.1 hit producer John McLaughlin (Echo and the Bunneymen, Busted, Shane Macgowen, 5ive...). After collaberating together he invited me to work on more of his projects. There is many exciting thing to come for SKR in the near future.

I am primarily a music producer, mix engineer and song writer. However I also promote in Manchester and enjoy giving advice to bands, helping them develop and understand the industry. I have a 2:1 degree in Popular Music and Recording from Salford University and have nearly 10 years experience of the music industry.

I work remotely but will also travel for projects. Depending on the project we can record from my studio or seek out alternative acoustic spaces. I have some excellent microphones that do a top quality job for all sorts of situations. I also mix remotely but I keep the artist up to date with mixes so that they can give feedback.

For solo artists I will also provide session musicianship so that the recording has a full arrangement. If any artist needs help song writing I also provide that service.

I take the view that each band, artist or project needs to be treated differently. It's important to understand the dynamics of a band and the aims of the recording before jumping into a song. Ideally I'll chat or meet up with the band if they're local.
