Alfredo Lopez Nieto on SoundBetter

Alfredo – Songwriter & Singer I’m Alfredo, a songwriter and singer passionate about taking Latin pop to the next level. I seamlessly blend English and Spanish to craft music with a unique identity, combining deep storytelling with captivating melodies. Every song I write is an experience—designed to connect, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.

In 2017, I had the opportunity to attend a songwriting course in Los Angeles with Kari Kimmel, where I learned how to write songs for movies. That same year, I participated in Berklee Latino, refining my skills in song structure and maximizing emotional impact.

Currently, I’m working on my EP Reborn—a project where every song tells a story with depth and purpose, aiming to resonate with listeners through powerful lyrics and immersive melodies.

Interview with Alfredo Lopez Nieto

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is **songwriting and toplining**—crafting melodies and lyrics that bring their vision to life. Whether it’s a catchy Latin pop track, an emotional ballad, or a high-energy party anthem, I focus on creating music that connects with audiences on a deep level. I also work on **vocal production and arrangement**, making sure every vocal performance enhances the song’s impact. Additionally, I collaborate with producers to shape the overall sound and ensure the final track feels polished and industry-ready. At the core of everything I do is storytelling—whether in English, Spanish, or a mix of both. I help artists and brands find the perfect words and melodies to make their message unforgettable.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now, I’m working on my EP *Reborn*. It’s a project that’s really close to my heart, and each song tells a story with depth and purpose. I’m putting a lot of thought into the lyrics and melodies, making sure they connect with listeners on a deeper level. I’m also exploring some exciting collaborations with talented producers to bring this project to life. *Reborn* is all about evolution – both in my music and in the messages I want to share. Can’t wait to share it with the world!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Alexander Wakim, Macau, Kari Kimmel, ALOU, Arthur Pingray and Austin Leeds.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: **What’s your process for creating a song?** I approach songwriting like creating a painting. The instrumental base is the background that adds depth, the melody is what brings focus to the story, and the lyrics are the details that make everything meaningful. I start by understanding the message and vibe the song should convey, then I build the music around that vision. It’s a step-by-step journey from concept to finished track. **Can you create music in any genre?** Yes! While my focus is on Latin pop with a blend of English and Spanish, I’m always up for experimenting with different styles. From electronic music to cinematic scores or even more niche genres, I love to explore and push creative boundaries. **How involved do I need to be in the process?** That’s totally up to you! Some clients like to be hands-on and contribute to every step, while others prefer to let me take the lead and share feedback along the way. Whatever feels comfortable for you, I’m here to collaborate and bring your vision to life. **What’s the typical timeline for a project?** It really depends on the complexity of the song and the project, but I always work to meet the client’s deadlines while ensuring the final product is of the highest quality. Typically, a song can take a few weeks to complete, but I’m flexible and can adjust based on your needs. **Do you offer revisions?** Yes, absolutely! My goal is to make sure you’re happy with the final track, so I’m more than happy to make revisions and tweaks until it’s perfect for you.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: The biggest misconception about what I do is that people think songwriting and music production are all about just creating catchy tunes or beats. While those are definitely important elements, the real work lies in telling a compelling story and connecting with listeners on a deeper level. Crafting a song involves a lot of thought, emotion, and a solid understanding of structure, storytelling, and how to make the lyrics resonate with the audience. It’s not just about making something sound good – it’s about making something that feels real, authentic, and impactful.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: When I talk to a potential client, I usually ask these questions to make sure I fully understand their vision and can deliver the best result: 1. **What’s the vibe or emotion you want the song to have?** – It’s key to understand the emotional direction of the track to shape the music and lyrics. 2. **What message or story do you want to convey?** – Music is all about connecting with people, so knowing the story behind the song is essential. 3. **Do you have any reference songs or artists whose style you’d like to emulate?** – This helps me understand your taste and ensures we’re on the same creative page. 4. **What’s the intended purpose of the song?** – Is it for an album, a movie, a commercial, or a personal project? The purpose will guide the creative process. 5. **What kind of instrumentation or production style do you prefer?** – Some clients already have a clear idea of the sound, whether it’s electronic beats, live instruments, or something unique. 6. **Are you open to collaboration, or do you have a fixed idea for the song?** – It’s important to know if the client wants to work together creatively or if they have something specific in mind. 7. **Who’s your target audience?** – Knowing who will listen to the song helps me tailor the sound and lyrics to better connect with that audience. 8. **What’s your timeline and budget for this project?** – These practical factors are essential to set expectations and ensure we’re aligned on deliverables. 9. **Do you have any preferences or things you don’t want in the final track?** – Some clients have elements they want or don’t want included in the song, so this helps avoid surprises. 10. **How involved would you like to be in the creative process?** – It’s important to know how much the client wants to be involved so they feel comfortable throughout the process. These questions help me create a clear roadmap for the project, align with the client’s expectations, and still leave room for creativity.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: If you're looking to hire someone like me, here’s my advice: 1. **Have a clear vision** – It's important that you know what you want to achieve. Whether it's a specific sound, vibe, or message, knowing your vision will help us collaborate more effectively and make sure we’re on the same page. 2. **Trust the creative process** – Music is about exploration, and sometimes it takes time to bring the right sound to life. Trust that I’ll bring my experience and creativity to make it sound the way you envision. 3. **Be open to collaboration** – Don’t be afraid to share your ideas, and be ready to hear mine as well. The best music comes when both of us contribute creatively. 4. **Patience is key** – Making great music takes time, and we might need to go through a few iterations to get it right. Stay flexible, and know that the final product will be worth the wait. 5. **Focus on the story** – It’s not just about having catchy melodies or great production. Music is about connecting with people. Let’s make sure the lyrics, melody, and sound all come together to tell a powerful story that resonates with the listeners. If you bring your vision, and I bring mine, we can create something amazing together. Let’s do this! 🎶🔥

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: If I were on a desert island and could take just five pieces of gear, I’d bring: 1. **MacBook Pro** – Essential for producing, writing, and recording music anywhere. 2. **Apollo Twin Interface** – Top-tier sound quality and reliability for recording vocals and instruments. 3. **Shure SM7B Microphone** – A versatile and durable mic for capturing high-quality vocals in any environment. 4. **MIDI Keyboard (Akai MPK Mini or Komplete Kontrol)** – Perfect for creating melodies and experimenting with sounds. 5. **Steven Slate VSX Headphones** – Industry-leading monitoring with virtual studio environments, perfect for mixing anywhere. Even on a desert island, I’d still be making music! 🎶🔥 **Taking into account that the wizard performs the spells, not the wand—it's not about the gear, but how you use it to create magic.**

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I’ve been passionate about music for as long as I can remember, but my career truly started taking shape in 2017 when I attended a songwriting course in Los Angeles with Kari Kimmel, where I learned how to write songs for films. That same year, I studied at Berklee Latino, honing my skills in song structure and maximizing a song’s impact. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to crafting music that blends Latin pop with English and Spanish lyrics, always pushing to create something fresh and meaningful. Over the years, I’ve developed my own approach to songwriting—treating each song like a painting, where the melody, lyrics, and production all come together to tell a powerful story. Now, I’m working on my EP *Reborn*, a project that reflects my artistic evolution and passion for creating music that resonates with people.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: I would describe my style as a fresh and dynamic fusion of Latin pop with English and Spanish lyrics, blending infectious melodies, deep storytelling, and high-energy production. My music is designed to push boundaries, combining vibrant rhythms with emotionally charged lyrics to create songs that connect and leave a lasting impact. Whether it’s a party anthem, a heartfelt ballad, or an empowering track, my goal is always to bring something unique and innovative to the industry.

  26. A: Any producer/artist that wants to add to his/her production cool contemporary elements.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: I like to bring elements that create a contemporary atmosphere, but for me the most important thing is to work side by side with the artist to achieve his particular musical style.

  44. A: Listen to the best songwriters and producers but create your own style.
