Dave Johnston on SoundBetter

I'm a mixing engineer, producer, and musician from Auckland, New Zealand. My production strengths come from experiences as a musician, having played on stages of all sizes and recorded in many studios alongside talented producers and engineers. With years of training and experience, I work well with artists because I've been in their shoes myself!

I take pride in creating full-sounding mixes that preserve the sound and characteristics of your band or artist project. With my background as a drummer and composer, I have a strong sense of timing and can assist with arrangement and performance decisions for your project, if desired.

I work across a variety of popular genres, with a focus on pop, rock, and electronic music. My experience as a studio musician, producer, and engineer has allowed me to refine my skills while collaborating with other experienced professionals in the music industry.

In addition to freelance production work, I am the drummer for the award-winning New Zealand rock band Villainy, the artist-producer behind n1ghtmar3cat, and a music producer in the dance-pop duo Delivery Boyz.
