Interview with •LuNo Da ViNci•
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Honestly, I just my laptop and a good pair of headphones. Not sure how long I'd be able to last but yeah, that's pretty much it.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started working in FL Studio when I was 11 years old. 11 years of non-stop honing my craft & here we are, making waves in the music industry, one remix at a time.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Think of it like this; what type of music would Mozart make if he had a computer?
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Skrillex for sure. The dude is a master of creating expensive sounds.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on electronic music which includes future bass, future house & EDM Trap.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My main goal as a music composer is to make classical music cool. Gather various influences over the years has enabled me to create a unique style that will definitely get heads bobbing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've got a relatively simple setup. KRK Rokit 8 Monitors, Audio Technica M-50x Headphones & a Presonus Audiobox 2x2 Audio interface.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Definitely has to be a remix I did for Caden Jester's new release called "Foyobadi". It was my first go at executing my newly discovered sound on an actual project.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on two future house remixes simultaneously. Both for SoundBetter clients. Grateful for this opportunity. Time to work my butt off.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. Because it's the only thing I have access to.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: It's not just about the final product, it's about the experience. That's why I take pride in constantly providing updates and gathering feedback that moves the project swiftly forward.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Getting to do what I love for a living, from the comfort of my bedroom, with no worries about what I'm gonna wear.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long does it take you to create something that you're confident in sharing? The answer? Probably never haha. That's why I love deadlines.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Many people believe that making remixes is relatively simple because you are feeding off of pre-existing ideas.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What type of music are you not into? Because I believe working on a remix of that nature will expand your fanbase. Seeking discomfort has its perks.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Trust your instincts & trust in the provider by giving him as much creative freedom as possible. Communication is also key.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Caden Jester. He is a music production and mixing mastermind. I had the privilege of remixing one of his tracks. My go-to engineer 100% of the time. If you wanna take your sound from "good" to "state-of-the-art", he's your guy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Streamline your workflow to the point where you are 100% confident in your ability to consistently create quality music that aligns with your brand.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I've got to say remixing (Sound Manipulation): EDM/Electronic, providing a unique blend with Hip Hop/Trap & Dancehall/Afrobeats.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm a remix specialist working primarily with 1 main genre: EDM/Electronic. Nonetheless, my diversity allows me to infuse unique blends with Hip Hop/Trap & Dancehall/Afrobeats.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Skrillex's unique and diverse musical style played a huge role in helping me develop my sonic signature (Making music I enjoy) while still giving the market music they want to hear.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It usually begins with sound design using the stems that were provided by the client. This helps me come up with melodic progressions which I later meticulously manipulate to come up with an ideal arrangement for the whole track
