Interview with Anthony James
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I recorded guitar on a cover of Tom Misch's 'Lost in Paris' including writing an original solo.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now I am working on my own original music and also recording guitar parts for artists.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. I like the workflow of digital which helps to get ideas quickly. I do prefer the sound of analog though.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will serve the song and will always play to your vision.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Writing songs or helping to make a song great.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Since I am an advanced guitarist someone might think I will overplay. I only play what feels right for a song and follow the artist's direction.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Write as much detail as you can about what you want... the more the better!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I teach guitar so I have to be versed in all styles. I prefer indie rock or pop based music though.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Performance > Tone
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Indie Rock/Pop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Serving the song. I can come up with many different parts that the customer can pick from.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A good ear, versatility and great guitar tone.
