5x Pulsar Award-Winning Mix Engineer (The Chilean Grammys) | 20+ Years Crafting Heavy Rock & Metal
With over 20 years of experience shaping the sonic landscape of South American heavy music, I specialize in delivering massive, high-impact mixes for Rock, Pop, and Metal. My work is defined by a relentless drive for sonic excellence—creating powerful, punchy drums and a rock-solid, defined low end where "less is more" to achieve maximum clarity and heaviness.
My obsession with sound started in childhood, watching my mother play guitar, which quickly evolved into a lifetime of tearing apart audio gear to understand the science of tone. Today, that lifelong passion and technical precision have been recognized with 5 Pulsar Awards (The Chilean Grammys) in the Rock and Metal categories.
When you work with me, you’re not just getting a mix engineer; you’re getting a dedicated partner committed to making your tracks sound legendary on a global scale. Let's build your sound.

Endorse Pancho Arenas5 Reviews

I've had the amazing pleasure of working with Pancho for over a decade. He has produced and recorded four albums of my albums. He has an amazing musical ear, is a perfectionist, and has brought out the best in us, each record sounding better than the one before. He knows exactly how to make any band sound authentic to their style and elevate their songs and albums to a new level. A world-class producer and engineer who has become the architect of our sound and just helps our albums kick ass even harder every time!

Pancho Arenas is, to me, a true benchmark for rock and metal production in Chile. I worked with him on my album Nonlinear Chapters, where he contributed to mixing, mastering, production, and bass recording.
Throughout the process, Pancho showed exceptional technical and creative skills, a deep understanding of how to approach a recording, and impressive speed in proposing ideas that take songs to the next level. He also connected the project with talented collaborators and gave useful feedback that improved the final result. I highly recommend working with him.

For me, Pancho is the most important producer in recent Chilean music, shaping the identity of local rock and metal. Collaborating with him allowed me to see how he merges top-tier technical skill with great artistic sensitivity; he is a true craftsman who captures the intimate essence of every project. Year after year, he continues to dazzle with impressive-sounding records and a unique humanity, characteristic of someone who listens with their entire soul. I deeply celebrate that his immense talent continues to gather well-deserved awards and recognition

Knowing Pancho and his work opened the doors to real recording for me. His signature sound is unmistakable—uncompromising quality paired with a killer aesthetic. If you want world-class drums, Pancho is your guy. He’s always laser-focused and creates an incredible studio vibe.

Interview with Pancho Arenas
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My primary influences include Freddie Mercury, Sting, Phil Collins, and Jeff Buckley, all of whom I admire for their distinctive interpretative styles and compositional abilities. I'm also drawn to Rick Rubin's impeccable production and Brian Eno's creative approach to ambient music. Collectively, their methods have underscored the value of authenticity and innovation throughout the production process.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm truly excited by music that tells a powerful story, whether it's through deeply meaningful lyrics or instrumentation that evokes strong emotions. I feel a special connection to rock from the 70's, 80's, and 90's, especially the progressive rock movement of the late 70's and how it laid the groundwork for '80s pop (artists like Genesis, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel come to mind). I love how bands like Queen, Yes, Genesis, and Radiohead create soundscapes that are both complex and incredibly moving.
