Interview with Connolly Mellon
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have respect for anything that has a vibe. I personally make electrionc as well as acoustic so enjoy underground as well as pop depending how I'm feeling.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Universal Audio Soundcard, a guitar, a strymon blue sky pedal.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Keep it simple. don't use too much compression. Get your stereo bus right.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Genelec monitrors, Universal Audio sound-card. I play bass, piano and guitar.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producer and Mixing engineer.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I mix in the box. Completely depends on the project. If the artist is with me, hear a reference and build from there, if it's mixing remotely, that's cool, I just listen and go with the flow.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Song writer, top line melodies, production skill. I've worked with some top engineers so that helps.
