I am so happy to have found Cheshy to sing lead on my cover version of a Jerry Reed song. She returned an amazing performance with a huge variety of vocal stems/tracks to chose from. Cheshy delivered way more than expected! Her distinct sound has given my song a new meaning. I am very, very pleased.
Brief was for a belting funk/soul vocal, Cheshy delivered this and more, vocal tracks brimming with additional layers, harmonies, adlibs and creative vocal ideas, surpassed the brief and brought the track to life. Would highly recommend and use again in future projects.

Cheshy overdelivered on my remake of "Maggot Brain" by Funkadelic! She did an amazing job where she really had to interpret and deliver. No fear here! Bravo!

This was my first project with Cheshy but it will definitely not be the last. She has an incredible voice that she recorded flawlessly and came up with a vocal arrangement that was first class. She was also fast and communicative. The total package. Highly recommended!

I needed legit vocals for a 90s style house track and Chesy nailed it the first time around. She gave me a song title, lead and background vocals and adlibs in record time. Insane skill level. Will hire again. Highly recommended. Super professional and very fast turnaround.
Interview with Cheshy/Cheshy
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Mickey Shiloh, Davey Nate, Carlos Battey, Prince Chappelle and Jenny Lyric. They're all fantastic musicians.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Ooh, this is a hard one. I love SZA, Solange, Masego and a ton of other alternative R&B acts.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I was especially pleased about a recent cover I did of a disco classic. The delivery was so spot-on.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on an Anime Cover project and my new album simultaneously.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. I love the warmth of analog, but I require the "quality of life" attributes that digital offers.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to work with you, until we produce a project you can be proud of.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Freedom and a pretty open schedule.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Clients mostly want to know about schedules for projects. It really depends on the scope of the project...no timeframe is the same tbh.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's easy, or that anyone could do it. Actually, it can be pretty hard sometimes to be creative on demand.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What feeling are you looking for in this project? What do you want it to convey? What's your budget? LOL
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be very specific about what you want. Especially, when it comes to the feel and timbre of a project. I'm pretty intuitive, but I want to make sure I get your project just right.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Everything on my gear list. It's the perfect low profile set-up for a professional sound.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Wow. I began my training at 12 years old. I have written professionally for 5 years, I started performing at age 2.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as clean, and baroque at the same time. I love harmony and intricate arrangement.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Masego! I love how versatile and talented he is.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Enunciate. LOL
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Electronic, but I also do a ton of pop and disco too.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is delivery. I studied acting so I really know how to sell a song. Also, I can sing in most languages.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I think I bring a unique voice, clarity and power.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It really depends on the project. If I am writing for a client, I will listen over and over to the track until I feel inspired. Othertimes, I know exactly what I want to do from jump or i'll improvise. Every song is different.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a MacBook Air, Scarlette Solo, AKG C214 and AudioTechnica headphones. I record in Protools and I love Air and Waves plug-ins.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mostly, I am contracted for Funk, House and Soul songs.
