Over a decade of experience, masters in music, and looking forward to helping you!

Need classical guitar in your recordings or a composition for your project?

I've been playing classical guitar for 10+ years and have played/learned with some of the best performers in the world (Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, David Russell, Berta Rojas, Denis Azabagic, Johannes Mueller, Isaac Bustos, and more). I've played for just about any occasion you can think of and provided recordings for dozens of projects. Most recently I record for etudes.co which you can hear my playing. Just search Etudes.co on youtube.

I also have been a composer for 10+ years. The genres I specialize in are classical, atmospheric, epic, and all rock varieties. As a composer, I won the Austin Classical Guitar Composition Competition and was again commissioned by them for another piece. I also have several solo guitar compositions and have also written music for my former band Bingo Night.

Michael helped me with a pressing project recently. I needed to sell a number of nice, vintage classical guitars, and I wanted a professional musician to demo them on video. After contacting a number of musicians, and failing to secure a commitment either due to scheduling issues, or lack of interest, I ran across Michael, and I'm so glad that I did.
Michael is a talented young man, who is easy to work with. After a brief conversation he knew exactly what I wanted. The whole package, his skill, his looks, affable demeanor, and confidence, helped make my project a success! Thanks Michael!

We were lucky enough to use Michael for an orchestra composition at our school. His attention to detail was way beyond what we expected. His piece was produced ahead of time, which was a bonus for us. As a 30-year music director, I would not hesitate to use Michael again. I know that next school year there will be money in the budget for a new piece from Michael. Thanks.

Michael wrote a classical guitar part for a video I was working on and I am very pleased with the end result! He was very professional and very skilled. Would hire again.

Interview with Michael

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: There was a recent project called "Forward". I was to compose a four movement work for virtual guitar ensembles. However, I had to notate these pieces in a improvisatory style so that no matter what part a player was assigned, it would sound good and blend into the overall composition.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At this very moment I'm actually trying to expand my portfolio.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: There might be but I haven't browsed around much.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital cause why not? It's more convenient and sounds great.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I am highly motivated to please the customer so I'd say my promise is too fulfill my clients needs.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: That it deals with music!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: "What's your rate?" You can check on my profile!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I don't only play Spanish or Flamenco guitar...

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I basically ask what exactly they are looking for with detail.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: When shopping for a guitarist or composer, really communicate with them to see if they will really be a good match for you. I know of some people who have hired others on a whim and weren't quite satisfied with the final result.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Whatever would get me off the island ;)

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have my bachelors and masters in music, been composing, performing, and teaching for over 10 years.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I would describe my compositions as thought-provoking or nostalgic. As far as my playing style, I am very adaptable to meet the needs of many styles.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to get insight from composers such as Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu. Their compositions are partly responsible for why I compose and love music.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Focus on one thing at a time :)

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Modern classical, thought-provoking, and epic types of music.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Crafting melodies.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: A high quality classical guitar sound and original touch.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: This depends on the client I am working with. My work process can be tailored to the clients needs.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: It is simple and straight to the point. Two condensers, an interface, and Logic. For compositions I also work out of Logic.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Much of the video game music of my childhood inspires me. Such as music from RPGs and adventure games.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I provide guitar recordings of either already existing guitar works, or original compositions.
