Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I'm especially proud of producing and mixing my own original music from start to finish. It challenged me to wear many hats - songwriter, producer, guitarist, vocalist, recording engineer, mixing engineer and mastering engineer. Working on my own releases taught me how every production decision affects the final emotional impact of a song. It also gave me a deeper understanding of the creative process from an artist's perspective, which helps me communicate better with my clients and support their vision. My role covered every stage of the production, from writing and arranging to recording, mixing and mastering, resulting in commercially released music that I'm proud to share.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: At the moment I'm producing a Bossa Nova track for a client, overseeing everything from arrangement and production to mixing. I always enjoy working across different genres, as each project brings new creative challenges and opportunities to grow.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Both, and I believe the best results come from combining them. Digital gives me incredible flexibility, precision and instant recall, making revisions fast and efficient. Analog brings depth, character and a musical quality that's difficult to replicate entirely in the digital world. That's why my workflow is hybrid: I use the strengths of both to create mixes and masters that are polished, emotional and release-ready.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: You'll receive a mix that enhances the emotion of your song while standing up against today's commercial releases. My goal is to make artists excited to hit 'play' every time!

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: The studio is my happy place. I love the creative process, solving musical challenges, and seeing an artist get excited when they hear their finished song for the first time.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: One question I hear quite often is, "Can you make my song sound like the latest Ed Sheeran hit?" My answer is always, "Yes, I can capture a similar vibe or production style, but why not create something that sounds like *you*?" Reference tracks are incredibly helpful for understanding the direction you want, but my goal isn't to copy someone else's sound. It's to highlight what makes you unique as an artist. Whether I'm producing, mixing or arranging, I focus on bringing out your strengths and creating a record that feels authentic to your identity.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: The biggest misconception is that mixing and mastering can fix everything. Great results start with a strong song and a solid performance. My job is to enhance what makes your music special, not to replace creativity or emotion.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I usually ask clients about their goals, their vision for the project and how they see the song fitting into their career or artistic journey. I love working with artists who are passionate and truly want to create something meaningful. When I know a client is committed to achieving the best possible result, it motivates me to give my full creativity, attention and dedication to the project.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: My advice is to take your time when choosing a provider. Listen to their previous work, understand their style, and make sure they are the right fit for your project. Once you've found the right person, trust the creative process. Great results come from collaboration, open communication and giving the professional enough space to bring their experience and creativity into the music.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I've been a professional musician for over 30 years, performing with cover bands and touring internationally in clubs, bars, hotels, casinos, and cruise ships. This experience gave me a deep understanding of musicians, performance, and what makes a song connect with an audience. After graduating from SEM in Manchester, UK, with diplomas in Music Production & Construction and Sound Engineering, I expanded my focus into studio work—writing, recording, producing, mixing and mastering music. For the past 15+ years, I've been working professionally in the studio, helping artists develop their songs and achieve polished, release-ready productions. Combining my background as a musician with my production and engineering skills allows me to approach every project from both a creative and technical perspective.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: My style ranges from Pop and Pop-Rock to Alternative and heavier Rock. I focus on creating productions with emotion, energy and strong sonic impact while keeping the artist's identity at the center.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: I would love to work with artists who have a strong identity and a real story to tell. Someone like Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters would be inspiring because of the balance between powerful rock energy, great songwriting and emotional connection. What interests me most is not only the artist's level of success, but the creative process behind the music, helping capture the personality, emotion and unique character that makes a song memorable.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: One of my favorite mixing tips is to work at a lower monitoring level. It helps protect your ears, reduces listening fatigue and allows you to make better decisions over longer sessions. A great mix is built on critical listening, not just volume. Your ears are your most important tool, so taking care of them is essential for a long career in music.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring experience, creativity and the ability to turn ideas into finished music. I believe inspiration is not something you always have to wait for, it often comes through the process of creating. When a client has a deadline or a clear vision, I don't rely only on waiting for the perfect emotional moment. I pick up the guitar, start exploring ideas, and let the creativity develop through the work itself. My goal is to bring strong musical instincts, arrangement ideas and production experience to help transform an idea into a song that connects with listeners.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: My typical mixing process starts with the foundation of the song: drums and vocals. I focus on getting the rhythm, energy and emotional connection right first, then I build the rest of the instruments around that foundation. I like to work with fresh ears and focused sessions, because the best decisions come from critical listening rather than simply spending endless hours on a mix. After the initial mix, I review the details, make any necessary adjustments based on the client's feedback, and deliver a final mix and master usually within around three days.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I work in a hybrid studio environment built around Logic Pro, combining the flexibility of high-quality digital tools with the character and depth of carefully selected analog hardware. My setup includes premium equipment from RME, DAV Electronics, Neve, Elysia, Drawmer, Heritage Audio, SPL, Dave Hill Designs, TK-Audio, Ferrofish, allowing me to use analog processing where it brings real musical value while keeping the speed and precision of a modern digital workflow. This combination gives me the ability to create detailed, dynamic and emotionally engaging mixes that translate well across different listening systems.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: The most common work I do for clients is mixing and mastering, along with session guitar recordings and production assistance. I help artists take their songs from well-recorded performances to polished, release-ready productions. This can include improving the balance, emotion and impact of a mix, enhancing arrangements, recording guitar parts, and making sure the final master translates well across different listening systems. My goal is always to respect the artist's vision while bringing my experience as a musician, producer and engineer into the project.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: If there is electricity - laptop / audio interface / monitors / guitar and a mic If there is no electricity - just my acoustic guitar.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Manly POP/ROCK music. But any genre is welcome...

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: All time favorite producers - Quincy Jones & Desmond Child!

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My strongest skill is combining my musical and technical experience. As a guitarist and songwriter, I understand performance, emotion and arrangement, while my mixing and mastering experience allows me to translate those ideas into a polished final record. Being both a musician and an engineer helps me approach every project creatively, not just technically.
