Hi, I’m Andrea, a mixing engineer from Italy. Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked with artists from all over the world - including DIY punk bands, chart-topping artists, and everything in between. Nothing makes me happier than being around great music and studio gear - Let’s work on something awesome!
Hi, I’m Andrea Caccese, a mixing engineer from Naples, Italy.
My passion for recording and mixing was sparked after my first experience in a professional studio with my high school band. I was instantly hooked and quickly entered the industry, continually growing my skillset through DIY work, internships, and classes.
For over 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of traveling the world, playing in bands, and working as a freelance engineer. I’ve recorded, produced, and mixed records in studios across the US, Sweden, Australia, and now Italy, where I currently live. My workflow combines the character of analog gear with the flexibility of digital audio. While my roots are in alternative rock, shoegaze, indie, and punk, I’ve worked with a wide range of genres, from experimental musicians and hip-hop to chart-topping pop artists. I love the challenge and creativity that comes with each genre, and every project is an opportunity to help bring some music to life.
I focus on mixing, mastering, and production work (including songwriting assistance, session work, and more).

Interview with Andrea Caccese
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am especially stoked about the song "In The Garden" by Francis Moon. I got to produce, mix, and play on it, and people seem to be responding well.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am always working on my own music (Dead Rituals) and I'm working on producing and mixing a new album for Italian Pop-Punk artist Silly Sam.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I am relatively new to the platform, but I'll let you know when I find out!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! I think digital technology has reached a point where comparing it to analog gear isn’t really necessary anymore. However, what I love about my hardware equipment is that it puts me in a different mindset, allowing me to capture more character and make bolder decisions. The need to "commit" to hardware can be inspiring and leads to a faster workflow.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I bring a high level of skill, passion, and quality to every project, and I’m just as invested as the artists in making their music sound as good as it deserves
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love how mixing, mastering and producing require a mix of technical skills and creativity, it makes every project exciting and new.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I get questions about my gear, pricing, and what kind of music I feel comfortable working with. I always aim to give transparent and accurate answers.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: There isn't really any big misconception, thankfully!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I'd love to learn more about the project, the inspiration behind your work and the type of sound that you envision.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't hesitate to reach out, I'd love to discuss your project, learn about your vision, and the type of sound you want to achieve.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: "As corny as it might sound, I’d be fine with just a laptop and some headphones—it’s all I’d really need to mix if I had no other option, and it's quite an easy set-up to lug around.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing in bands since I was 15, spending countless hours recording in local studios. Those experiences were always inspiring and eventually led me to pursue an internship, invest in some gear, and start working on DIY projects for myself and other bands. I've now been recording, mixing, and mastering for over 15 years. I still make music with various artists, such as Dead Rituals, Francis Moon, and more.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It's polished yet edgy.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Literally any artist making music with passion and personality.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen, let the music tell you where it wants to go. Don't overthink it!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Punk, Alternative Rock, Shoegaze, Indie-Folk, Rock, Metal, Hip-Hop, Pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My greatest strength is identifying what a song truly needs and thinking outside the box to achieve the best possible outcome for every project.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a lot of passion to each project, and I'm always grateful for the opportunity to be part of the music creation process. You can expect experience, great sound, and attention to detail.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First, it’s important to discuss the project with the client to establish expectations and better understand the vision and artistic direction. Beyond that, my ideal workflow focuses on staying true to the spirit of the music, with the ultimate goal of delivering the best version of the song to the client.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in a small but highly capable studio, where I’ve collected a wide range of funky vintage analog gear, including compressors and EQs from manufacturers like Altec and Orban, among others. My philosophy is to use analog equipment for color and texture while relying on my DAW and plug-ins for flexible editing and finishing touches. This hybrid setup offers the perfect blend of efficiency and vibe.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Producers/Engineers: Eric Valentine, Jerry Finn, Steve Albini, John Congleton, Nick Launay, Jacquire King. Artists: The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Blink-182, Green Day, Ramones, Black Flag, Radiohead, This Will Destroy You, Taking Back Sunday.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I regularly mix and master songs for my clients. In addition, I produce entire tracks and offer session work, focusing on drums, guitar, and more. I also provide other production services, including guitar reamping, vocal tuning, and more.
