It's easier to start weird and add normal than start normal and add weird.
I'm a freelance producer, engineer and mixer with 20+ years experience. I was one of the owners of 6 Nassau in Toronto (RIP) and now work freelance or from my project room The Junkshop. One of my specialties is live off the floor/band-in-a-room recordings and I strive to make the recording experience as fun, easy, and as painless as possible for the musicians regardless of their experience in the studio. I happily work on anything and everything regardless of style or budget but I have a soft spot for singer-songwriters, unusual instrumentation and adding weirdness where you would least expect it. I also have a healthy disdain for tuning vocals and time aligning anything.
I also specialize in non-studio based location recording and multitrack concert recording.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Endorse A. David MacKinnonHave worked with Dave on a few singles. He's providing phenomenal value as well as being a first class guy. Good tips on improving the performance of the tracks. Then he highlights details in the mix I didn't know were there, and has added creative touches of just the right "weirdness" as advertised and hoped for.
