Organic music for your soul and your speakers
I grew up in a musical family, surrounded by instruments. I took to playing the drums in the 4th grade and instantly fell in love with percussion. While I was in the school band, I completely loved the way the brass instruments, woodwind and strings all blended together. With this love of instrumentation, I began listening to artists like James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Sly and the Family Stones and other soulful and instrument heavy music.
I was introduced to hip hop music in the 7th grade, and developed a love for the more organic and soul driven music. Once I discovered that the music I was drawn to was "sampled" meaning that parts are taken from other tracks and made into a newer sound, I was introduced to crate digging. As I listened to hip hop heavyweights like Primo, Dilla, Alchemist, and Pete Rock my desire to do the same with my spin grew and grew.
I like for the artist to take one of my beats, and put their own flavor on it. I don't want them to just take the track and the structure that I put it in and just record over top of it. To me that is not what I am interested in. I like the self expression and creative interchange.
