Singer, songwriter, and vocal arranger. I have hundreds of syncs in TV shows, films, trailers, commercials, and promos. I've written a song that was in the top 100 on iTunes, the number one soundtrack on iTunes, and on a Gold album. I've had cuts with artists on SM, Warner, Avex, Universal, Disney, Ultra, Strange Fruits, Sony, and more.
I have a home studio set up with a Slate microphone and Logic. I write topline (lyric and melody), sing, and vocal arrange.

Interview with Tyler Shamy
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually write lyric and melody to tracks and provide vocals-sometimes it's one or the other, and sometimes it's both.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Neumann Mic, Logic, ProTools, Apogee One.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically, a producer will send me a track and I'll write to it, then send them the idea for approval before I record final vocals. If I'm just being hired to demo vocals, I simply learn the song, record, and send them vocal stems for mixing.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Shawn Mendes, Lauv, Bazzi, Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder, Jon Bellion, Julia Michaels, Adele.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Emotion and believability. Most of what I do has a catchiness and memorability as well.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Toplining, singing, and vocal arrangement.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly pop, but pop/r&b, pop/rock, EDM, country pop, singer/songwriter, house, and folk.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Take time away from a song for a day or two and listen with fresh ears.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Julia Michaels or Shawn Mendes because I love how true to themselves they are and that they write from an authentic place.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: If Mike Posner, Shawn Mendes, Julia Michaels, and Lauv had a baby...
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been writing pop for over 10 years and make a living placing music in tv, film, commercials, trailers, and promos. I also write for other major artists-have many cuts in Europe, Japan, Korea, etc.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, microphone, Apogee, headphones, and a cell phone to record voice notes.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Ask me any questions you'd like to make sure I'm the right fit for you :)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Are there any specific influences or concepts you want me to keep in mind? Any vocal style reference that you'd like me to keep in mind, or want me to just do my thing?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I produce as well. I write lyrics, vocal melody, sing, record vocals, and arrange harmonies.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can we do more together? Yes :-P
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I just love making a customer happy and helping to bring their vision to life. And I'm so passionate about music, so being able work in music every day is a dream come true for me.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back ;)
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital because there's more flexibility to edit and revise.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Natalie Major and Phinisey are good friends of mine and are both amazing talents.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My solo artist project, songs for tv and film (just got a song placed in an HBO TV show), my duo Story & Blue, Radio Disney Country duo Savvy & Mandy, songs for K Pop and J Pop artists, and various artist pitches.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm proud of writing a song for Disney's film Descendants 2. The soundtrack went gold and our song was in the top 100 on iTunes singles for a while. It was definitely my biggest accomplishment to date.
