I am a session musician and producer based in the South Florida area. I have recorded for Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Chayanne and many more. Currently, in addition to my studio work, I am musical director for Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. I have extensive experience not only as a player but also as a programmer as well.

Interview with Doug Emery

  1. Q: What's your typical work process?

  2. A: My process really depends on the concept of the song. if it's a pop track I will often start with programming drums or sometimes I'll start just by playing the song at the piano and see what I start to hear for the arrangement.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: My studio is primarily set up for me to record myself and vocals. If I need drum or guitar overdubs I have partners who have their own set ups ready to record.

  5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  6. A: I big fan of guys like Matt Rollings, Greg Kurstin and Greg Wells.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: I do anything from playing piano, wurli, rhodes or B3 to being responsible for the full production and anything in between.
