Interview with Phoenic Records
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: We recently finished a remix/bootleg (whatever you want to call it) that was played multiple times at Tomorrowland to over 100k people. We produced, mixed and mastered the unofficial remix for one of our clients!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Stick to your guns! Numerous projects we have worked on (especially in our earlier careers) were changed due to a pushy producer or someone with a different idea, Remember this is your song, there are so many different genres and styles what sounds good to someone else might not sound good to you, This is how genres and great musical movements are created!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Electronic music is in our veins but we have done hundreds of other productions that stray away from this (House, Progressive, Trance, Techno, Acoustic and Pop)
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Our unbiased approach to all of our projects! Most of us are here for the same reason, and that is to make great music and cement our mark on other musicians and listeners alike!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As lifetime music listeners and the fact we have a small army behind us we bring a lot of unbiased, smart musical decisions to the table, Although a lot of our work is in the electronic field all of our producers come from a more acoustic background and as stated know exactly what it takes to have their music played on the biggest of stages!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: We always ask our clients for a few references! As artists and musicians our selves we know how producers can get carried away, While this sometimes this can be a blessing in disguise we do not ever want to turn a record into something it is not!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We have an acoustic treated room, powerful Mac, awesome split monitor setup (Yamaha and Tannoy) and enough plugins to fill a small country :) although we usually use less than half on our projects hahah!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: In an age with so many talented producers the list would be endless :)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: We produce, mix, master and finish music with the sole intention of giving our clients a record that is ready for commercial release!
