Interview with MISS JVB

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My bands album "Arc Of A Dream", I wote all songs, recorded and produced half of the album and also worked with a producer who taught me a ton and is extremely talented. All the songs are authentic to who I was at that time.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A collection of instrumental music for a high end music library

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: yes

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital, more convenient for me. The plugins these days are pretty amazing, But I respect people doing analog as well, especially for specific genres.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Quality. Always.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I can be creative.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: People lie to put me in a box, thinking I can only do a certain style. I do stick to electronic music but I've done several pop, indie and metal songs.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: When is the project due?

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Give me directions and references, communication is everything.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: My laptop, apollo twin, MPK249, a mic and my plugins...

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I started in a cover band, began my first solo project which turned into my band, I learned how to record and mix. Made a gazillion mistakes and I'm still learning. I've had the privilege to work with many talented producers and learned so much. Plus touring has also been a great experience.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Edgy, sensual, hard, unique.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: Lady Gaga. It would be insane to be in a room with her. I love collaborating, a great collaborator can bring out something in you that you never knew you had, you step up your game subconsciously, which is magical and special

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: layers...all about layers.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: electro pop, edgy, out of the box.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Vocals and melody.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: My sound and voice have a unique sound and style.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I breathe, focus and dive in.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Trent Reznor. Lady Gaga. The Chainsmokers. Skrillex. Ed Sheeran. Hanz Zimmer. So so many.
