Scott Jacobs on SoundBetter

An experienced, yet unique songwriter, topline writer, and session vocalist who will strive to capture exactly what your looking for!

I am an experienced songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist who has been recording and writing music professionally for the last 10 years. I hail from Vancouver, Canada but offer my services to clients worldwide, while recording with top of the line gear (Neumann, Apogee, Universal Audio) in Vancouver. I have released one album of my own music, but now mainly focus on lending my talents to the projects of others.

I work in a few different genres. I am highly comfortable in the Singer-Songwriter/Folk realm, but also work in the Pop, Rock, Country, R&B, and Americana genres. I offer top quality Songwriting (Complete Arrangement, Top Line, Lyrics), remote session recording of male vocals, as well as guitar and piano tracks.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

It was a pleasure to work with Scott. He recorded great vocals, had good creative input, delivered high-quality recordings, and was very accommodating throughout the process. Full 5 stars!

Interview with Scott Jacobs

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: 16th note tambourine parts makes any chorus sound bigger.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I love to work on singer-songwriter/folk. This is where I seem to feel the most comfortable. But I listen to and work in, a few other genres.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: I think my voice and songwriting are my strongest musical abilities.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: Again, I try to focus mainly on the vibe, and emotion of the song. This has to be established first, then I can move on to actual lyrics, and definitive melodies.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: I like to begin my songwriting with the question of where do I want the song to take the listener? Before I even begin to think about lyrics or melodic ideas, this has to be considered.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I have a few great mics, but always find myself going for my U87. It seems to work well on everything. I run it through a UA Solo 610 Preamp, into an Apogee Ensemble, straight into Logic Pro X.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: I love the work of Ryan Adams. It's amazing how much great music he has put out.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: I usually do songwriting, but I am just as happy doing session vocals, guitars or keys.
