Interview with Carpet Booth Studios

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: We're running a Trident Dream 32 I/O recording/mixing console for most recordings, but we've got some Neve 1073LB Pres, a UA 6176 Channel Strip, and tons of other outboard gear. Everything is running into a 2017 Mac Pro, and usually we're running ProTools, but we've got Ableton and Logic Pro as well. For a full list of gear check out our website carpetbooth.com/gear

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: When working with BGVs don't be afraid to cut a good chunk of high end out. Be adventurous in processing BGVs, and always remember there are no rules if it sounds good.

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: We work with a lot of indie rock, indie pop, and hip hop.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: We take inspiration from a wide array of artists and producers.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Online we typically do editing, mixing, and mastering. Most often though, and at the local level, we work with artists from beginning to end on their music. Giving pre production advice, production during the recording process, engineering to ensure the right sounds for each project, and all of the post production work.
