Platinum producer endorsed Mix Engineer with a specialty for making bold productions exciting and gentle productions pretty.

I'm a Mix Engineer/producer who specializes in indie rock, pop, and folk. As a musician my whole life, I decided to focus on engineering/production in 2011. Through graduating from audio school, assisting at studios in Nashville for a few years, and working on my own, I've honed my skills for over a decade. I've gone on to mix several songs which have broken hundreds of thousands of streams, and I work on ~100 songs a year. I also frequently ghost mix for multi-platinum producers (notably a member of The Hitmen).

As an up-and-coming engineer, I've seen first hand how a high quality mix can help an artist reach new levels.

I would love to take your projects to the next level with the expertise I've gained from my time in the music industry.

Brilliant engineer. He mixed and mastered one of my beats and the result was so professional. You'd be struggling to find better!

I contracted Jon's services to mix a very, very raw and low-quality recording I did. In less than a day, he made gold out of grain. I had tentatively mixed it on my own, and I might as well have been a three year old playing with pedals, when it was held up against Jon's finished product. The only flaws with it were my fault, due to the low quality of the raw recording. And, to make it more impressive, he had the finished product done in about a half a day, with prices that were, in my opinion, obscenely low for the quality and speed of work, not to mention the quick and ready communication!

Interview with Jon Paz-Gale

  1. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  2. A: Broadly, anyone and everyone who makes something that makes them feel. My two biggest producer/engineer role models are Tucker Martine and Ethan Johns. Michael James has given me a generous amount of his time, and he's definitely on that list.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Yes. Always.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Let's talk through your goals. Don't be afraid to pick someone who might fit your needs better!

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: Meticulous editing. I can spend 12 hours straight in flow.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: Sense of space is important to me. Finding the right space to place everything in makes the record feel cohesive, inspiring, real.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I'm used to doing the full package - producing, recording, and mixing. Within the past few years, I've had a number of artists approach me to simply mix. I hold a holistic approach to record production, and while it was a transition at first, I've learned through mixing that I get to be ONE part of a record's "ecosystem". I don't plant the flowers or water them, I just make sure they look as good as they can.
