Interview with James Anthny
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I normally track audio wether it be a vocalist or live bass guitar, along with mixing and mastering.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: T-Pain is definitely the biggest inspiration to me as he developed and sound and stuck to it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Well I work between two studios in the Los Angeles area, both which are equipped with protools, full vocal booth and monitor rooms. One studio has a TM103 microphone as the other as has a C414 both which are great recording microphones.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I don't have a typical process because every client is different with different request.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a commercial sound to any song wether I'm on the song, recording the artist or mixing the artist. I understand what the industry standard is.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill would be song writing and me as an engineer, I only say that because no one can hear a song and provide the results I provide.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on R&B and EDM records
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Dave East or T-Pain, I like his story and how he is coming up in the industry. T-Pain well because he's inspired my whole essence as an artist and engineer.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will take your record to the next level.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog because I can feel my mix.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Jessica Jolia
