It was super easy working with Christian, and he dialed in exactly what I was looking for on our song. Great communication and had the drum stems turned around in no time. Look forward to working with him again!

Wow! A very positive experience working with Christian. Super organized professional that communicates very well. Open to my ideas and input on the changes but then still able to add his creative direction and point of view in the execution that captured the song feeling and tone brilliantly. Will definately be working with Christian in the future!

Christian came through on a last minute request to complete drums for a track I needed to record. I sent the request on Sunday and received the tracks within hours. Always professional and always good!

Great drummer. Always sends perfect stems that Im able to take into the studio. Christian will also send multiple versions of one song of drum samples without even requesting this option. Love his work and will always recommend Christian.

Christian was great and easy to work with. Very understanding with my project. If you need a drummer he is your guy! He sent 15 tracks for one song. Has gone above and beyond for me. I will be using christian again.
I've been using Christian for several years as my "first call" drummer/percussionist on both live shows and studio work for all of the artists I endorse. He is a solid, intuitive, creative musician who is easy to work with. He is always professional, prepared and an all around great human being to be around. I know that all of my projects will be a success in the rhythm section department when he is involved. It is always a joy to have him on board.
I run another recording studio in Denton and have known Christian for 7 years. He is a first call drummer for me and someone to whom I send a lot of clients as well. We collaborate on a lot of projects and I always look forward to working with him, whether he is in my studio, we are playing live togther, or he is sending me tracks that he has recorded. Top notch player, musician and person. I highly recommend him for just about any type of project!
Christian has played with me a few times and I knew I wanted to have him on my record. I was able to let him know what I wanted and he just crushed it.
Great guy, incredible musician, and I will continue to use him for anything I need!
Working with Christian was my first experience with contracting someone over the internet to do tracks for me (previously, I had always worked with producers who took care of that). It was an awesome experience! Christian communicated very well, was prompt in his correspondence, as well as in getting the job done. He's a very talented drummer who I highly recommend!!
Interview with Christian Dorn
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I recently recorded all the drums and percussion on Eleven Hundred Spring's latest album, Here 'Tis. This record has been very well received and is currently in the Top 10 on "The Texas Radio Charts" and went to #1 on "The Texas Top 25 Countdown with Shae". It has been a lot of fun watching this record, and the first single "This Morning It Was Too Late, climb the charts and get so many spins by dedicated listeners.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love helping bring clients radio ready parts that can help complete or begin their recording process. Working with clients remotely is a lot of fun and I always enjoy meeting creative people from around the world.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My studio, Drum Arsenal Productions, focuses on providing clients around the world with high-quality, affordable drum and percussion tracks. Most of my work is as a session musician in the pop, country, and singer/song-writer genres.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once you book your session, I just need a scratch track that is recorded to a click to get started. We'll also talk about what sound and feel you're wanting, as well as, what types of drum sounds you're needing. Next, I'll start recording your drum tracks! Once I feel like I have the sounds and drum part you want, I'll send you an MP3 with the drum part and scratch track mixed in to review and approve. Then, any changes that you want are incorporated in another take, and you're sent another MP3 to approve. After you have a track that you are happy with, you will receive a zipped file with the individual WAV. files of the session. From here you can drop the wav. files into your session for mixing or send them out to be mixed by another engineer! My goal is to make this whole process as easy going and stress free as possible!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record all the drum and percussion tracks in my purpose-built, professionally treated studio. I usually record 14-16 tracks of drums depending on what the song needs. You get multiple kick mics, snare mics, & room options, so you have options if you need them. My goal is to give clients the best sounds possible. I want you to have the most options available when it comes to mixing. The source is the most important part to me when recording. I'm a huge fan of outboard gear and vintage preamps and all that, but when it comes down to it, if the source your recording does not sound good, no amount of mixing can fix that. Because of this, I have many drumsets and snare drums and cymbals for my clients to choose from. My main tracking kit is a Craviotto Solid Shell drumset that was built for one purpose, to be under a microphone. I also have some beautiful vintage Ludwig and Gretsch drumsets as well as a lot of high end Yamaha sets for different sound options.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I work really hard with my clients to get them the exact parts and sounds they're wanting. I enjoy being creative and working with different artists and producers.

Picked up a couple new toys for the studio! A Shure KSM 141 and a Shure SM7b. So far the SM7b has been incredible on hi-hat and bottom snare. The KSM is working really well as a condenser on snare top. Looking forward to experimenting with these more this week on some film/cinematic drum and percussion scores.
