Luca Severino - TRAP - EDM on SoundBetter

I’ve been working as a music producer and composer for 14 years, my tracks have been featured on ads for Armani EA7, DC Shoes, The North Face and the Campari Group. My background, combined with my curiosity, allows me to work on top musical production as well as on old school stuff; I’m a scrupulous listener and a thorough music digger.

DO YOU NEED BESPOKE MUSIC?
then, I’m definitely your man. I spend most of my time producing bespoke tracks for all kinds of video for major brands, putting all of my efforts to harness the perfect emotion and provide the best music/video combo. I can produce music just for a single video or, by your request, I can craft a musical identity to a whole ad campaign.

DO YOU NEED A BEAT?
No problem, too! I’ve specialised in TRAP and EDM, I have just the right stuff. I released music through several club labels, among the top ones Defected/Snatch.

DO YOU NEED MIX or MASTER?
All of my tracks are mixed and mastered by me. I am not an analogue head nor a digital boy. In my studio, I can use both technologies. Your track, your style, as long as you let me choose the best audio chain.

DO YOU NEED ARRANGEMENT?
If you feel like your track needs a little push, don't you worry: I can help with that, too.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Luca has been my studio assistant at Solid Groove Studio various times in the last few years, both as a mixer assistant and as a sound designer.
What struck me most is the ability to merge and concretise technical knowledge with his personal music culture, which is reflected in a high-quality job.
He's a good mix between musical intuition and good taste.

Luca produced one of our albums.
What I like about him is that, as we started to work together, he gave us enthusiasm and technique and let his signature style emerge, though allowing the artists to have the final say on the songs. He does have inner art to express. As far as technology, musical knowledge and work ethics are concerned, he doesn't rest on his laurels and always tries to improve, to learn.

Luca Severino is a professionist, which you can trust of you're looking for a both professional and creative approach to every sound your project needs. His music industry knowledge and his technical skills combined together has been always a great support for every project we did together!

Interview with Luca Severino - TRAP - EDM

  1. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  2. A: Akai Mpc X and Sony MDR 7506

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: Probably Fred Again because I feel very connected with his music. I would be very (very, very) humbled, but that would indeed be my dream collaboration.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both of them give me the possibility of achieving what I need and don't have a specific preference.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: Nobody went home unhappy after coming to my studio. That says something.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: It may sound cheesy, but being able to create a different world every time is a feeling that money can't buy.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: "Can you make it sadder, but bouncy? Can you do it by yesterday?" - "Well...Aye, cap'n".

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: What's the ultimate goal of the product you're asking me to work on?

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: I have a warning, rather than a piece of advice. There will be questions, to make sure we're on the same page.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I first laid my hands on a sequencer when I was fourteen...and I've never stopped since then. I didn't even know where to start, it just grew on me. I was lucky enough to have made the "right" mistakes and learn from them. My first official album had been released in 2009.

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Ears before eyes! Don't work watching the screen. Close your eyes and use your ears, they are your most treasured gear.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Trap, EDM, Soundtrack

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: I'd say my strongest skill is the constant update. I'm a bit of a nerd and this is a great plus because I can give a technical as well as musical support to fellow artists. And of course, musical voracity.

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: Sometimes I need to observe my work with objectivity, so I imagine what an artist would do in my stead, with the ideal technical expertise and without the emotional attachment a creator has towards their creature.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: The core is a Mac workstation equipped with whatever plugin on Earth (UAD) and three DAWs. My speakers are PMC and Adam, Antelope and Apogee converters and a wide range of mics. My studio has a separate recording room and my monitor room is packed with vintage and new synthesisers, that take up most of the space there.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: I respect many and I don't idolise any. This job taught me to see music from different perspectives with different approaches.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: I'm a well-rounded producer and I give my music the full treatment. From composition to mixing&mastering, my forte is crafting music for videos.
