Drummer and Percussionist

Vampire Weekend touring member and session drummer delivering expressive, song-focused drum and percussion tracks from my Los Angeles studio

I’m Garrett Ray, a Los Angeles-based drummer and percussionist available for remote recording sessions. I've been a touring member of Vampire Weekend since 2018. In the past I've been a member of bands like Fool's Gold and Foreign Born. I am a DW drum and hardware and Latin Percussion endorser
A few of my recording credits include the likes of Vampire Weekend (Father of the Bride), Olivia Rodrigo (Guts), Kelly Clarkson (Chemistry), Sia (This Is Acting), Sky Ferreira (Night Time, My Time), Blood Orange (Coastal Grooves), and Cass McCombs (Dropping The Writ, Wit's End)

Whether a song needs a powerful live-kit performance, understated groove, detailed percussion, or something more textural, I focus on serving the arrangement and the feeling of the song. I record polished, organized multitracks from my home studio and collaborate closely with artists, producers, and songwriters to get the right performance and sound

Send me a demo and a few references, and let’s make something great
